We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nate Habben. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nate below.
Nate, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project is our first production as a company for a small brewery in St Peter Minnesota, called Paddlefish Brewery. Paddlefish Brewery was founded by two of our college friends, so it was super exciting to be able to help tell their story through videos and photos. Mad Tap Media strives to share stories that showcase the passion of local business owners and this was our first step towards that goal.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
We are a band of three friends who met at Gustavus Adolphus College, sharing a love for video creation. Our journey began in a video art class back in 2019. Alongside our coursework, we started making videos during our free time to hone our skills. When COVID-19 struck, we adapted by marketing our services to the college, transforming live productions into remote-viewing videos. After graduating, our paths diverged:
Nate, armed with a Bachelor’s in Communication, continued as a freelance videographer.
Preston, with a Bachelor’s in Studio Art, delved into live events and precasting, working with Bally Sports and KS 95.
Henry pursued his freelance photography career, collaborating with various local Minnesota businesses.
At Mad Tap Media, we partner with local businesses to create tailored video (About Us videos, product showcases, event recaps, and announcements) and photo content for web and social platforms. Our secret sauce? We truly understand our clients’ business problems, molding our products to solve their unique challenges. Beyond videos and photos, our passion lies in making genuine human connections. Creative collaboration with our clients in an energetic, positive work environment is where we thrive.
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
One unique aspect of Mad Tap Media is that all 3 of us got to take the journey of discovering our love for storytelling and filmmaking together. Experimenting with marketing and growing a YouTube channel, creating skits, films, and podcasts, and going through the excitement and struggles of those projects with each other there for support.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For us, the most rewarding part of working in a creative industry is being able to look back at our old work and see just how much it has grown and improved over the years. As digital creators, we will forever have a log of our lives and creative journeys and how they are intertwined.
