Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nate Evans Jr. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Nate, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
About 2 years ago I was working a corporate job while running my educational consulting business on the side. During the height of the pandemic I was released from my position without cause and instantly unemployed. Within a few days of being unemployed I came across an advertisement on Instagram from a guy named Jeremy Anderson who is the nations leading motivational speaker for schools. I desired to grow my business speak across the nation as well to students of all backgrounds and Jeremy happened to be hosting a webinar to teach speakers how to grow their business. I made the investment since it was rather small, maybe $20 at the time. At the end of the webinar I was floored by the amount of wisdom that was shared by Jeremy and I knew that I needed to have him as a mentor and coach. He went on to make an offer to join his speakers academy which at the time was a couple thousand dollars to be a part of. My heart was telling me to commit but my bank account was telling me to wait.
I had a decision to make in that moment, save my money and not take the risk or bet on myself and my work ethic to make the risk worth it. I chose the later and it was one of the greatest investments I’ve ever made. I gained a community of ambitious business owners who supported each other, a mentor who is God-fearing and over-delivers, and a new found confidence in myself for taking the risk. Since joining his speaking academy, I’ve been able to grow my business substantially in less than 2-years and I’ve been blessed to speak in multiple states including California and Texas as well as out of the country in the Dominican Republic, speak at my first TED talk, and share the stage with Shark Tanks very own , Daymond John.
Risks are scary because nothing is guaranteed. However, what is guaranteed if you don’t take the risk is that nothing will ever change. In fact, things may get worse.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe what helped me build my reputation within my market was something I like to call, the value first method. I made it up in my mind that I would always bring value first to my clients in whatever capacity that I could and I would over-deliver. This allowed me to build trust with my clients and also prompted them to advertise for free through word-of-mouth. My reputation has now preceded me and has afforded me opportunities to go into different rooms to grow my impact and business.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson that I had to unlearn was that in order to build a successful business you have to grind 24/7 and outwork the competition. While I understand the sentiment I also from experience learned at how exhausting and unhealthy this type of mindset can be. When I first got started with building my business I bought into this “grind” mindset and my health declined. So much so that I was admitted into the hospital after passing out from exhaustion. I realized that if I’,m not healthy both mentally and physically, my business will suffer and so will I.
