We were lucky to catch up with NaTasha Vinson recently and have shared our conversation below.
NaTasha , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
The first time I took a risk was 5 months out of high school, at 17 years old when I said “yes” to motherhood. I became a teen mom not knowing what motherhood would look like for me. Anyone can give birth but not everyone takes the time to “be” a mother, but I did. Unknown to me did I know that saying yes to that one risk would shape me to be the fearless women that I am today. I’ve been taking risk since. I relocated to another state with no family or friends, become an entrepreneur even when family and friends doubted and didn’t support my choices. Sure I could have decided to be miserable like them and just work a job and wait for that check every 2 weeks, or live off welfare but I wanted more. As if being a teen mom/single mom of 2, I took another risk to move in with a man, in another state not knowing if we would make it and the list goes on. Y’all call is risk…..I call it “faith”. The more you work it the more confident you become. From that risk, that same lil boy beat the statistics and so did his mom(me). We are both thriving. He’s in college playing D1 football while maintaining his grades on the deans list, and I’m a Life Experience Coach, Image Consultant, Speaker, Author, Realtor, Podcaster, all while having a corporate job. I also added 3 more kids who are living and thriving……..oh and I married that man I moved across the world for. So I’d say all my risk were worth it.
NaTasha , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Absolutely, I’d be delighted to share my story and what I bring to the table. I guess you can say I was born a life coach &. speaker. Everything that I do has always come naturally to me since a child. I would always put on shows where I was the star either acting, singing, or playing talk show host. As I got older it never left. One day I heard someone say: the very thing you should be doing is the thing that come naturally to you. Naturally aka Naturally NaTasha, I am a giver, encourager and helper. People always come to me for laughs, advice, or my great taste in fashion. One day the light bulb just went off and told me to continue to do what I’ve been doing just put a price on it and add tax. Over the years, I honed my skills, and through my experiences, I realized that I had a genuine gift for guiding people toward their best selves. My primary focus is to empower women to overcome obstacles from their life experiences, identify their goals, and develop actionable strategies to achieve them. I provide one-on-one coaching sessions, workshops, and seminars designed to help women own their lives, style & assets. We work on self care, building resilience, boosting self-confidence, owning their own style and improve their overall well-being to get to that bag (assets). My motto is to “own it, own you”. Once you get a grasp on the “it” you will own you most valuable asset….YOU!
Have you ever had to pivot?
Several years ago, I found myself facing a pivotal moment in my career/life due to having small children and no reliable village to help me. Up until that point, I had been trying to fit in a box that people wanted me to be in, as in working a typical job and not follow my dreams/passions. Every time I would get a job (over 20), I would lose it due to scheduling issues, kids getting sick, no baby sitter, can’t afford daycare etc. The decision to pivot into entrepreneurship (real estate) was not an easy one but I knew it was necessary to be able to have the work life balance that I needed. Sure, it was hard to not get paid until a home was sold/rented but when they were, they were! I went to real estate school, started researching various all kinds of opportunities that would offer me the flexibility and money I needed. I became a notary, took paid acting gigs, attended workshops, read books, listen to podcast, heavy networking and sought advice from mentors who had experience in the entrepreneur fields I was seeking. Entrepreneurship came with its own set of challenges and uncertainties. I had to adapt, still adapting to unexpected obstacles, learning from failures, and constantly evolving my business strategies.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
This is a great question….honestly I had to learn that there is no overnight success. You know social media guru’s and influencers, even celebrities are vague with all they experience so they make you think that all you need is a great idea and a little bit of work and boom your RICH. Thats why all those MLM companies exist LOL (pun intended). However, the reality is often quite different. Success in entrepreneurship usually requires years and years of hard work, persistence, and learning from failures. I can be pretty impatient with the things I want so little did I know that GOD would teach me a lesson of patience through entrepreneurship. For some reason I always chose to take the hard and long way in life, lol.
