We recently connected with Natasha Perez And Kaeli Hernandez and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Natasha Perez and Kaeli Hernandez thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
A defining moment in our professional career was post COVID when prominent yoga studios in our community closed down, this began the birth of Sacred Sisters Wellness. We viewed this time as an opportunity, and with a few hundred dollars opened our own space. We continue to educate yoga as a lifestyle practice emphasizing cyclical living and conscious rest. With all the excitement of starting our new venture the difficulties of navigating holistic health as a business is something we did not anticipate. Our zest for community connection keeps us going, it’s no secret small business owners wear multiple hats, which has been our biggest challenge. That’s why we are a semi-private, hybrid studio and are by appointment only. The biggest lesson learned from these experiences is the value of creating balance and walking our talk in a way that feels authentic, and community driven. We’ve been blessed and steeped in loving and kind familial, cultural and yogic roots, which is the heart of our business.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Natasha Perez holds her bachelors in Holistic Health Sciences and was first introduced to Yoga at the age of four. Kaeli Hernandez holds her masters in Kinesiology and was first introduced to yoga in the spring of 2013. Both completed their 500 hour Yoga Teacher Trainings with the Yoga School of Corpus Christi, with teachers Michelle Acebo and Gretchen Weber. At Sacred Sisters Wellness, we compassionately promote harmony of the body, mind, and soul by guiding all beings to explore and connect with their innate gifts, personal power, and sacred interconnectedness. Through Yoga, Ayurveda, energy healing, intuitive guidance, and much more we bridge the gap between ancient and modern holistic practices. What sets us apart is our focus on cyclical living, conscious rest and intuitive movement in a compassionate way. Specifically, we have a weekly class schedule, our popular classes are in the evening both in studio and online which promote conscious rest. For example, Yoga Nidra, Restorative and Reiki, Yin Yoga, and gentle movement. Our Full Moon Gatherings are also hybrid and encourage cyclical living practices which include cacao, gentle yoga, astrology, community and self reflection. Additionally, we host private retreat and celebration packages for corporate events, and gatherings like birthdays and bachelorette parties. We have several price points to navigate all budgets from a once a month donation class, to private sessions and everywhere in between. A great way to engage with us is through our quarterly email newsletter, which focuses on holistic health education, including topics such as Ayurveda, Astrology, and Yoga. Kaeli also offers intuitive energy sessions for chakra balancing that includes Reiki, Yoga, and psychic reading. You can learn more about our business and services by visiting our website, here you can explore what we offer in detail and request signing up for our newsletter by submitting our new form questionnaire.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
In our field, listening to our community that walks in our physical and virtual doors has been the most helpful for succeeding thus far. In addition to trusting our training and knowledge we utilize our intuition to shape our classes and services. This listening guides us to keep our main focus on community connection, teaches our clients to listen to their own innate wisdom which creates strong client retention and personal empowerment. It is important that when our clients experience transformational changes that it is prompted by their own personal power and choices. We view our field as an opportunity to bridge the gap between ancient and modern practices that promote balance and harmony within.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Since opening Sacred Sisters Wellness, there have been moments of personal hardship that have harnessed our resilience, and highlighted our capabilities to navigate change while simultaneously running a business. Some of these challenges include, caretaking for loved ones, burnout, and the loss of family members and friends. Through it all we have been able to lean on one another as friends and business partners, which has been a loving reminder of our “why” and purpose. As a young business we feel that it is imperative to speak about the challenges as a way to relate to others who are feeling called to open their own business, follow their passion, and just go for it.
