We were lucky to catch up with Natasha Fussell recently and have shared our conversation below.
Natasha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
My real estate business name is Selling Swan City. Lakeland, Florida has been referred to as Swan City for quite some time. Lakeland has had a longtime love affair with swans and in 1957 the city was gifted a pair from the Queen of England. Over the last decade the name Swan City has grown in popularity with more and more businesses paying homage to the swans by incorporating Swan City into their name. With my business being based in Lakeland I could not think of a better name, I am literally selling Swan City every time I facilitate the transaction for homes, land or businesses.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I started in real estate in 2018 after many years of project management in the technology industry. I grew up on new construction home sites and always had a love for homes. Real estate was something I had wanted to do for a long time and one day I decided to make the jump. I handle both commercial and residential real estate transactions, sales and purchases. Really two things set Selling Swan City apart, providing the most innovative and cutting-edge marketing and meticulous follow through from contract to close. I put my past project management experience to use on every transaction. With my past career, everything was based on a preformed plan with daily process checks and scrutiny to process improvement. Whether it is a purchase or sale transaction, it will be one of the largest financial transactions of their life. I want it to be a positive experience, although it has the potential to be stressful at times, we focus on the end goal with will be positive and try to have as much fun along the way. I want to know “what are your financial goals?”, “what are your dreams?”, “what do you love?” and “what excites you?” and I will do my best to check as many of those boxes as possible.
My most resent venture was stepping out of my comfort zone of participating in group fitness classes to becoming an instructor. I have enjoyed group fitness classes for several years and just last year became certified. I am fortunate to not only be a member but also an instructor at the most positive and uplifting studio I have ever experienced. Through the six years I have been a member, I have experienced loss and physical issues but regardless of whatever I was going through, I would leave uplifted and encouraged. I wanted to pour into the lives of woman the way I have been poured into. It has been one of the most amazing experiences to date. Accomplishments are amazing, success is what everyone strives for but knowing you made a difference in someone’s life and encouraged them to pull through a dark time, that is the most rewarding feeling I can feel.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for me has been referrals from friends, family and past clients. I know some of the very best people and they are so kind, referring great friends and family members to me.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I am much more likely to be consistent if I am doing something I feel I do well at. Coming from a B2B industry, I struggled initially in a B2C environment. I had to take a step back and find similarities in my day-to-day interactions. I was fortunate to find ways to market B2B which had a trickledown to businesses employing. This put Selling Swan City in front of so many more people than what I would have been able to do focusing the same amount of effort towards meeting new people on my own.
