Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Natasha Davis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Natasha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Who is your hero and why? What lessons have you learned from them and how have they influenced your journey?
My hero is Madam C.J. Walker. Her legacy has played a huge role in my life. I have learned so many things from Ms. Walker. She had built a school to teach entrepreneurship. Walker also opened doors for women of color to become self made. She is very inspiring and her legacy will continue living on through women entrepreneurs. I am influenced by Walker in many ways. One, I learned from her to be self made and determined. Second, find your niche and be driven. Lastly, never give up and stay true to yourself.
Natasha , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My Passion for Fashion has always been a factor in my life. I love fashion and I feel it brings out my inner beauty while also allowing me to express myself artistically. Being a female entrepreneur makes me feel more independent, self-sufficient and dominant. Entrepreneurship alone has been goal setting. It’s not easy juggling my daily life and being a business woman. My brand Plus Appeal15 is not only appealing to the eye but appealing to the soul of a woman. My brand will continue to strive and grow to become more successful,
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Entrepreneurship comes with a lot of work and money management. Building a business directly out of pocket is a job within itself. I funded my business by working a full time and part time job. I used the money from my part-time job to purchase inventory. At the time I was uneducated on the different funding resources for small business owners. It took me about $5k to start my clothing brand. That includes advertising and marketing as well.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience on social media by connecting with other entrepreneurs. I also joined fashion groups all over the world and posted products. Social media played a huge role in sales. Posting pictures gave plus size women more confidence and they began sharing and talking more about my brand. Once my following started to grow more I paid for more advertising ads to boost more sales along with more followers.
