We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Natasha Camp. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Natasha below.
Alright, Natasha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I learned to do what I do, by watching YouTube videos constantly until I was introduced to social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok. Honestly, I wouldn’t want to have speed up my learning process, because one I am a perfectionist. Another reason is all good comes to those that wait, so I took my time and was patient with myself. I wouldn’t call it a skill, but it’s literally practicing over and over again. I was my own obstacle that stood in the way. That self doubt can literally block you from your progression as a creator and artist.

Natasha , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Well those on social media know me as Cammy Yammy or Cam. I’ve got into Beauty Content about 4-5 years ago now. I solely started because after becoming a new mom, I didn’t want being a mom be my whole personality… I wanted to come into my own self identify. Nonetheless I’ve always like makeup. So I create content from hair and makeup tutorials, skincare routines, and sometimes fun & engaging makeup transitions (transformation) videos. What sets me apart part is I’m not trying to be anyone else, I’ve master the art of standing alone and being my own cheerleader. I’m proud of having the opportunity to work with some brands I’ve never thought I would work with from Ruby Kisses to Urban Decay and now with Nyx Cosmetics is truly a blessing. I honestly want my future supporters, because I hate the word “fan” to know that you can do anything you just have to be about it and not just say it… actually just do it!

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect is being recognized by your fellow peers. I’ve been recognized by peers that’s been doing this way longer than me. To hear them say I inspire them is definitely a full circle moment, because inspiring others you look up to a true flex as an artist and or creative.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
What society can improve on is show casing more black artists and creatives. Even though it may be “thriving” there is still a lack of BLACK representation. So I appreciate moments like this were I can be given my flowers, and still want to water the garden around so more flowers can bloom… meaning more black artists and creatives like myself can get recognition as well.
