We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Natasha Bennett a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Natasha, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for In My Prayer Closet Ministries came in a way I never expected. At the time, I was in a season of deep transformation in my faith. For years, I had unknowingly been entangled in religious rituals, going through the motions without truly experiencing an intimate relationship with God.
That all changed when I joined a women’s ministry. There, I found healing, clarity, and a deeper connection with God. But as I grew, I began to notice something—so many women around me were struggling. They were lost in the busyness of life, burdened by expectations, and unsure of how to reconnect with their identity in Christ.
I saw myself in them. I knew what it felt like to be spiritually disconnected while desperately longing for more. I started sharing my story online—going live on Facebook and Instagram, reading my Bible, and being transparent about my journey. The response was overwhelming. Women were reaching out, expressing how much they related to my struggles and how they, too, longed for a deeper relationship with God but didn’t know where to start.
Then, one day while at work, I had a vision. The idea of creating Christian apparel dropped into my spirit so clearly that I immediately grabbed a notebook and pen and started writing. I wanted to create something that would remind people of who they are in Christ—something that would spark conversations, encourage them in their faith, and serve as a bold declaration of their identity in Him.
When I launched my Christian apparel line, I quickly realized this was bigger than just clothing. Women weren’t just buying the apparel; they were resonating with the messages behind it. It was meeting a need that went beyond fashion—it was helping them reconnect with their faith in a tangible way. That’s when I knew this was a worthwhile endeavor.
I saw that the real need wasn’t just for apparel but for spaces where women could grow in their faith, heal from past wounds, and be strengthened in their roles as mothers, daughters, and leaders. So, I expanded. I began hosting women’s workshops, creating spaces where women could build an authentic relationship with God. I started mentoring mothers, helping them not only grow spiritually but also raise their children to know and follow Christ.
Fast forward to today, and In My Prayer Closet Ministries has evolved far beyond what I initially envisioned. I now host annual women’s retreats and conferences, providing a deeper level of empowerment and spiritual transformation. I’ve also stepped into business consulting, helping others build faith-driven businesses that align with their God-given purpose.
What started as a simple idea for Christian apparel turned into a movement—a ministry designed to equip, encourage, and empower women to step boldly into their faith. And that’s what excites me the most. This journey isn’t just about a business; it’s about transforming lives and helping women rediscover who they are in Christ.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
For those who may not know me, I’m Natasha Bennett aka The Prayer Closet Mama—I am a Mother, Speaker, Entrepreneur, and Daughter of the Most High and the founder of In My Prayer Closet Ministries—a faith-based movement that started with Christian apparel and has since grown into a multifaceted ministry and business.
But before I ever launched a brand, I was just a woman who had spent some years unknowingly caught up in the world, going through the motions of faith without truly experiencing an intimate relationship with God. Honestly, the change happened when I became a mother, realizing that my son needed more than just me to protect him and guide him through life. I knew I couldn’t do it alone—I needed to build a real relationship with God, not just for myself but for him.
I started by simply sharing my journey—going live on Facebook and Instagram, reading my Bible, and being transparent about my struggles and breakthroughs. Women began reaching out, sharing their own struggles with feeling disconnected from God, lost in the demands of life, and unsure of how to build a genuine relationship with Him. That’s when I felt led to create something tangible that would remind them of who they are in Christ.
One day, while at work, I had a vision for Christian apparel—faith-based clothing that wasn’t just stylish but carried powerful messages to encourage believers in their walk. I immediately grabbed a notebook and started writing. I wanted to create something that would spark conversations, remind people of their identity in Christ, and serve as a bold declaration of faith. That’s how In My Prayer Closet was born.
But within months, I realized this was bigger than just apparel—women weren’t just buying the clothing; they were resonating with the messages behind it. They were longing for community, mentorship, and deeper faith. So, I expanded into workshops, mentorship programs, and faith-based events to equip women to grow spiritually, heal emotionally, and strengthen their relationship with God.
What I Offer & The Problems I Solve:
* Faith-Based Apparel & Products: Stylish, conversation-starting clothing that encourages boldness in faith.
* Workshops & Retreats: Creating spaces for women to deepen their faith, heal, and walk in purpose.
* Business Consulting: Helping faith-driven entrepreneurs build brands that align with their God-given vision.
* Motherhood Mentorship: Guiding mothers on raising their children to know and love Christ.
What Sets Me Apart:
I don’t just talk about faith—I live it transparently. My brand isn’t just about selling products; it’s about building a movement that empowers women to know God deeply and live out their faith boldly. My unique approach is rooted in authenticity—I share my journey, struggles, and victories, creating a space where women feel seen, understood, and encouraged.
What I’m Most Proud Of:
I’m most proud of being a mother—because my son is experiencing this journey with me. To watch him grow and develop his own relationship with God, seeing his faith flourish in the same environment I’m nurturing, is an indescribable joy. I’m incredibly proud of the opportunity I have to raise him in faith, teaching him not just the principles of Christianity but also the depth of God’s love and the purpose He has for him.
The beauty of this journey is that it’s not just my own transformation but his as well. My faith is being passed down to him, and every step I take in my walk with God impacts the way I raise him. His questions, his observations, and the way he absorbs the world around him through the lens of his developing faith serve as constant reminders of the responsibility and honor I have in guiding him.
This journey has shaped everything I do—from the ministry I lead to the way I mentor others. Being a mother influences how I show up for other women, as I understand the weight of guiding not just ourselves but the next generation. It strengthens my resolve to help women build relationships with God and raise their children with the same deep-rooted faith. Watching my son develop into a young man who has his own understanding of God and purpose is my biggest reward.
What I Want You to Know:
If you’re a woman longing for a deeper connection with God, seeking mentorship in your faith journey, or needing guidance in motherhood or business, In My Prayer Closet Ministries is for you. This isn’t just a brand—it’s a place where faith is ignited, identities are restored, and women are empowered to walk boldly in their God-given purpose.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building my audience on social media has been a journey rooted in authenticity and connection. One of the key things I was taught, and what I lead with in my approach, is that people don’t just buy products—they buy people. So, from the very beginning, I made it a priority to share my story, my struggles, my victories, and everything in between. I wanted people to know who I am and why I do what I do—because when they connect with you on a personal level, they’re more likely to trust you and support your brand.
I didn’t just focus on pushing products or services. I focused on building a relationship with my audience. I shared snippets of my faith journey, insights about my ministry, my experiences as a mother, and how my life is shaped by my relationship with God. This level of transparency helped me build trust with my followers, and they began to see that I wasn’t just offering a product—I was offering a part of myself.
My advice to those just starting to build their social media presence is this: Don’t be afraid to show up as your authentic self. People are drawn to vulnerability and realness. It’s about being consistent, staying true to your message, and finding the right balance between being personal and professional. Focus on creating content that speaks to your audience’s needs, desires, and pain points, but also allow space for who you are—your story is your strength.
And remember, building a social media presence takes time. It’s about nurturing relationships, not just accumulating followers. Consistency, value, and authenticity will help you attract the right people who are invested in you and your brand for the long haul.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I keep in touch with my clients and foster brand loyalty by staying consistently engaged with my community across multiple channels. One of the main ways I do this is through email newsletters, where I provide updates, share inspiration, and offer exclusive content that adds value to their lives. I also make a point of connecting directly with my followers through DMs and personal messages, ensuring that they feel seen and heard.
In addition, I host in-person events and frequently go live on social media, which creates real-time opportunities for interaction and engagement. These platforms allow me to deepen my connection with my audience, answer questions, and share more about my journey and what my brand stands for. I believe that showing up consistently on social media helps me stay connected while keeping my brand authentic and transparent.
Another way I foster loyalty is through my free book club and prayer call, which I host regularly. These initiatives offer my community a chance to engage with me and each other on a deeper level, centered around faith and personal growth. It’s a space where I can offer value beyond just products, creating a supportive environment where people feel encouraged, empowered, and connected.
By offering these touchpoints and being intentional about building relationships, I’ve been able to not only stay in touch with my clients but also create a sense of belonging and community that strengthens brand loyalty. It’s about showing up for them consistently, whether in person or online, and giving them a reason to stay engaged with my work.
