We were lucky to catch up with Natascha Dammann recently and have shared our conversation below.
Natascha, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Are you happy running your own firm? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
This is a very real question most likely many business owners are facing , especifically when times are tough . I have been asking myself this question often in the last 3 years . The last 3 years of Covid and my personal cancer journey . I have been put to the test many times to keep going ,and eventually focused on the survival and the recovery of the business. As a business owner , you are not given a choice , you can’t walk away and take a break. Not in time of crisis . You have to set a priority. In all honesty , I have been angry at this situation often and thought about what if … however at the end, I always rather run my own company.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
In 2009 I started a part time job as a German teacher at Language Door , later that year I joined the admin team. At that time Language Door had 4 locations , in Santa Monica, Encino , SD and Irvine. I enjoyed running the Irvine location but soon overlooked all locations . 2015 the previous owner retired and it was a dream come true to take over the company.
Language Door is a private language institute with physical locations in Irvine and San Diego, Los Angeles offers online classes only. We provide all kinds of language services in over 35 languages from teaching children and adults in small group classes or private settings at our locations and online. We also provide classes to Corporate and Government clients and partner with many Charter Schools. Translation and Interpreting services are offered as well.
We have dedicated teams, who help students and teachers every day with their caring and professional attitude. But Language Door’s biggest pride is its teacher team. Our teachers are not only native experienced instructors but conduct the classes with passion and enthusiasm.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I do believe the best strategy to grow clientele is to offer the best service possible. Conducting honest business and making the client feel that you genuinely care for their needs, goals and in our case learning progress is what it takes to grow.
How did you build your audience on social media?
It took me a while to understand the power of social media. After years of trying myself , I recognized , If you don’t know how to build social media effectively then consider hiring somebody who does. If you start late , you play catch up .
