We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Natalie Young a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Natalie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
There have been several meaningful projects I have had the honor of being a part of during my writing journey. Some of these have included collaborations with writers from all over the world. There was a collaboration that stands out to me when a group of almost 15 writers (including myself) wrote about 3 of our favorite places where we each live. This was so much fun to learn more about various interesting places from all over the world. Just to share some of the things I also have had the honor of writing for include MCWEN (Minority Christian Women Entrepreneurs Network); writing an article for Lifestyle Teagal Magazine, writing book review blogs and writing guest blogs for various individuals bringing encouragement and inspiration. I must also say that sharing my story on the radio and in writing has been humbling and has taught me that everyone has a story that can impact others in a positive way too.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I began my website “Let’s Take A Moment (Examine This Moment)” about 6 years ago now and it has been a journey for sure. In my work, you will find a variety of blogs that I believe will bring encouragement to you. Knowing that we each have different moments daily, it felt as though my writing could be a way of bringing inspiration to others. Since the pandemic, I found myself growing more in my writing and connections on social media. Just to name a few things, I began to be invited to write for others as a guest, have collaborations with others, and be in interviews. I have been asked to write book review blogs. I also have enjoyed writing ‘my thoughts when I watch certain movies and shows. This has only challenged me to learn more and more about how to grow my audience while incorporating more content. I have honestly loved, appreciated, and enjoyed every moment. I believe as I grow, so does my brand. I am currently working on my first book and other upcoming collaborations/projects. To know that I have been given opportunities to not only write for my own brand but for others as well brings so much joy to my heart. I must admit when my readers share their comments and stories, it is very rewarding for me.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I must honestly say, that some of the most rewarding aspects for me are when I have posted, shared my work, and have readers share their comments and personal stories. I have to say that when I know that someone has been encouraged, inspired, challenged, and shares that with me and others that brings so much joy and spurs me on to continue my writing journey. Although, for some creative content may be challenging, for me I must admit the creative juices keep flowing and I look forward to writing every opportunity that I have. This is something I am truly grateful for.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I so appreciate my audience responding with honest feedback to my writings which continues to be a driving motivation on this creative journey. It is my goal to strive to do more and grow more in my writing journey. I have enjoyed connecting with others and writing for them. I honestly feel I have just touched the ‘iceberg’. There seems to be so much more ahead to look forward to and I am so excited to continue on this writing journey.
