We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Natalie Vargas a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Natalie , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

How did I come up with the idea for Heaven’s Healing??

This was 21+ years in the making.
As a child, I was taught that La Yerba Buena (peppermint) helps with an upset stomach. I learned that Aloe Vera helps with sunburns. All my grandmother’s remedies. As time went on, I grew and knowledge myself in alternative remedies. Aromatherapy stole my interest. Plants, flowers, herbs, and learning all the great benefits that mother nature puts on this earth. Who wouldn’t be interested?

Fast forward…

2001 – I moved into a house where the past tenants left behind boxes of books. These books were mainly about plant life, herbs, and essential oils. The backyard had a lot of plants. Some were dying, or they were dead already. I quickly learned how to care for them with the books left behind. I knowledge myself and fell in love with the process.
As I started to nurture the plants, I noticed the healing process. I started digging deeper into holistic health and all the benefits that each plant, flower, and herb carried. It dates back to the Egyptian days. Before Western medicine was available. So, this plant life was the only source of medicine back then. I found that fascinating. I continued my journey of knowledge in holistic health and alternative remedies.
As the year went on, I made my first aromatherapy oil. I called it Aches & Pains. A mixture of lavender, rosemary, in almond oil. It aided in pain relief. I sold a few bottles and I saw the potential. So, I pulled a business license. I came up with the name Heaven’s Healing. It just seems fitting for the nature of the business.
Unfortunately, I had to put my business to the side after a couple of years. I was a mother, and I couldn’t devote the time needed to my business. I had to direct my attention back to my children.

Fast forward…
2006 – All these years and I never stopped furthering my knowledge on my craft. My life was much calmer at this point. I thought I should try my business again. I renewed my business license and started to create products. I was researching more in-depth and creating new recipes. Creating is not easy, especially since it comes from a place of love. It takes time, energy, and a clear mind to create a product that gives back great results.
I was able at this time to come up with the recipe for Cold & Flu. I made Cold & Flu for children. Because the littles couldn’t take medication. I created an aromatherapy oil with eucalyptus, rosemary, and lavender. This combination benefits during sleep. It helps you breathe easily, sleep better, and not wake up congested. That was as far as I got this time. First and foremost, I had to be a mom. I had to direct my focus back to my children.

Fast Forward…

2021 – My mother passed away from COVID-19 on 1/31/21. I went on a healing journey. I focused on healing my childhood trauma. Working through depression and anxiety. I started researching cannabis and CBD. I began to grow my knowledge in this plant life, and I thought to use it with Aches & Pains Body Oil. All the medicinal properties of the cannabis flower are great for healing.
I made a sample bottle and tried it out for myself, it worked on my body pain. Then I had a couple friends and family try it out, it worked on their pain as well. I decided to renew my business license for Heaven’s Healing again. This time, my children are older, I was sure it was time.
I had a paralegal friend help me to obtain an S-Corp with the State of California.
Heaven’s Healing then went from Sole Proprietor to S Corp as a healing dispensary in the State of California. This would allow me to add cannabis to my product legally, manufacture, and distribute. It was all growth from there.

What is Heaven’s Healing?

Heavens’s Healing is a line of aromatherapy products that I created. I use essential oils to handcraft candles, aroma-oils, and body oils. I create these products to help people with depression and anxiety, something I know all too well. I like to use uplifting essential oils in all my products.
I have expanded my craft to create tinctures and hair products, my number one seller is Aches & Pains Muscle Rub. My muscle rub has 2 different formulas. CBD and less than 3% THC which works almost instantly on pain. I offer an alternative to Western Medicine. I make specialty products like teas for clients that have fibromyalgia, cancer, and lupus. I help them to feel more comfortable while going through treatments or flare-ups.
Heaven’s Healing is now providing other services as well. I obtained a certificate as a Life Coach, and I am also Certified in Energy Psychology and Holistic Healing. I offer Energy Cleanses, Ear Candling, and Life Coaching.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

I had to unlearn the word “I can’t” and I had to unlearn toxic love. I was challenged in many ways along my journey. My business is over 21 years in the making because I had to get to a peaceful place of self-love to be able to make what I create. I make my products in small batches with love and with best intentions, I add a little prayer from time to time too. My customers tell me they can feel the love, that’s the best part of my job.

I continue to unlearn things daily. But the ability to adapt suits me.

Lessons learned…
You are your own best investment. You can never go wrong when you invest in yourself.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

Being a single mother with 4 kids and trying to build your dreams is hard. In my first entry here, I added quite a bit of “fast forwards”. During those times I went through drug abuse, alcohol abuse, and just being lost. I had to overcome it all. I was trying to fill a void with outside substances that did not suit me. God saved me every time. The law also had to intervene which in reality has led to my growth and success.

Rebuilding myself and my brand each time I went through adversity it was really hard, but I never gave up and I always kept pushing forward.
