We recently connected with Natalie Robinson and have shared our conversation below.

Natalie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?

Relocating from Queens, NY to Charlotte, NC was scary I was scared I wouldn’t find clients in my new city. I took advice from my business coach Cyd Mitchell from Sweetfest to write out my 1 year plan and concentrate on networking. Well I did just that went to Events posted on social media to build my presence. To my surprise my 1st client in Charlotte was a young lady who reached out for a chocolate birthday cake with drip and candy all over it. I asked her how she found me and she mentioned finding me from #CLTBAKERY I was so excited because that meant I was being noticed on social media. My client loved my cake and to this day continues to order from me 4 years later.

Natalie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I am Natalie Robinson the face behind the sweet desserts. Some may ask what does the events in our name have to do with my bakery business.

I started my creative journey over 21 years ago when I was an event planner for all occasions. I branched out almost 8 years ago when a bride asked me to be her wedding planner. In addition to planning her wedding she wanted me to also do treats for her treat table. I took on that task and from there I started my treat maker journey and soon after started baking for all events.

Here at Picture Perfect Creations we are known for our scratch cakes with our silky buttercream and our exotic flavors with that Caribbean feel. We also create “Picture Perfect” treats for your special event. We are known to create a very memorable scene for that special day!

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?

Best source of new clients for me has been Google and being consistent. Clients have searched for bakeries near me, cupcakes near me and custom cakes Charlotte, NC. It’s important to keep your Google profile up to date and ask your clients to submit reviews to your profile. It truly helps!
