We were lucky to catch up with Natalie Jean Paul recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Natalie, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with education – we’d love to hear your thoughts about how we can better prepare students for a more fulfilling life and career
In today’s world, education is considered to be the foundation of a successful life. However, traditional education systems often ignore teaching children important life skills such as managing money, taxes, and credit. It is crucial that we change the educational system to ensure that children learn these essential life skills before they make mistakes. Firstly, children must understand the importance of managing money. They should be taught how to create a budget, save money, and invest in their future. In addition, they must learn how to differentiate between needs and wants to avoid overspending. These basic money management skills will help them avoid falling into debt and living paycheck to paycheck.
Secondly, children should be taught about taxes. They must understand how taxes work, how to file them, and the consequences of not paying them. It is essential that children learn how to manage their taxes from an early age to avoid getting into legal trouble later in life.
Finally, children must understand how credit works. They should be taught about credit scores, interest rates, and how to use credit cards responsibly. This knowledge will help them avoid getting into debt and will enable them to build a good credit score, which is essential for future purchases such as a car or a house.
In conclusion, it is essential that we change the educational system to teach children about important life skills such as managing money, taxes, and credit. These skills will help them avoid making mistakes that can lead to financial problems later in life. By teaching children these skills from an early age, we can ensure that they are well-equipped to handle the challenges of adult life.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Lessons that i had to unlearn in life and in business is everyone is not your friend when it comes to money. Money changes things in my line of work. I also had to learn that building both personal and business credit are very important due to just having money to spend does not help the growth of a healthy business.
I also had to unlearn that i am not my brother’s keeper. In the beginning i always reach back and wanted to help my family because growing up in New Orleans we did not have a lot of money and resources was limited so i felt it was my responsibility to help. What i was doing was enabling them of growing up and prolonging their independence as an adult.
I had to let their problems be their problems because it was becoming a bigger problem for me.

Have you ever had to pivot?
During covid i had to scale back. I close two childcare locations and my plus size boutique. At that time i was going through a trademark battle over a name i had been using for years. I lost my best friend of 20 years due to covid including three uncles. This sent me into a deep depression. People with whom i loved very much was no longer with us. A Coach that i trusted used and betrayed me. I almost gave up on my dreams and passions. With the help from God, my husband, and my children i slowly started to heal and in 2022 i came back to work full time. in 2023 the centers that i lost God is slowly opening doors to give back what was lost in 2020. 2024 will be epic for me, my family, and my staff.
