We were lucky to catch up with Natalie Jean recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Natalie, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Growing up I didn’t know what I wanted to be or what profession I was going to get into. I worked ALOT of dead end jobs before realizing that my true purpose in life was to make others happy and feel beautiful by being a hairstylist.
I knew early on that my passions came from creating, doing artistic projects.
I’ve been doing hair for almost 10 years and I have fulfilled so many dreams of mine that I never thought I would achieve.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I got into the Hair industry in my early 20’s. I found a school called John Perry – which at the time only cost I think 500-1000 dollars to attend. My mom early on kept telling me find something that makes you happy. Well she was right –
But I was 21 at the time and still in my party days era ( I unfortunately got a DUI- and made the decision to drop out at 1300 hours. To take a step back and handle the situation from my own personal faults of what had happened.
Worked a bunch of dead end jobs for about 7 years. But through that experience I knew in my heart – cosmetology and doing hair was my passion. So I found a school located in Culver City at the time that was close to where I was living and started doing the program again- I couldn’t jump in at 1300 hours cause after 5 years those hours go away.
So I started fresh, older a little bit more wiser. But I started at I’m so grateful for everything that has happened because I wouldn’t be here today if I didn’t start over.
I went through the whole program, graduated and got my license in 2014.
I assisted so many times and worked at a drybar, multiple salons till I found myself in what I wanted to be and what I wanted to specialize in.
If you look at my instagram you will see everything from fashion colors, blonding, makeup. Fashion and photography.
I’m an ARTIST- I just love what I do and I know it shows in my work.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
What drives me is my passion.
I love creating even if I get 3 likes on it I’m still pursuing my passion. Not everyone is gunna like what you do . But that’s not why we choose to be creative. We do it because it truly makes me happy and I love it.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The best feeling is doing hair and showing your clients just how beautiful they truly are with the right haircut, color, style. Which ever it may be .. that look after they see themselves in the mirror is WORTH IT !
It’s the most heartfelt thank you anyone can ever give us.
