We recently connected with Natalie & Ido Lazarovich and have shared our conversation below.
Natalie & Ido, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
At Lèlior, we believe in going the extra mile to show our customers just how much we appreciate them. One of the ways we’ve done this is by offering free samples, because we understand that choosing the perfect fragrance is a personal and intimate experience. Imagine receiving a beautifully packaged box in the mail, filled with 10 different fragrances curated just for you. It’s like a personalized fragrance journey, designed to captivate your senses and help you discover new favorites. We want our customers to feel valued and cherished and know that their satisfaction is our top priority. By offering these samples as a gift, we hope to convey the depth of our gratitude for choosing Lèlior.
This gesture has not only helped us build trust and loyalty with our customers but has also sparked excitement and joy. We’ve received heartfelt messages from customers expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to try new fragrances without any cost or obligation. It’s moments like these that remind us why we do what we do and motivate us to continue providing exceptional experiences.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Our journey into the fragrance industry with Lèlior has been shaped by a series of entrepreneurial experiences and a passion for providing exceptional products and experiences to customers – especially Ido’s journey. Before venturing into the fragrance industry, Ido ran a successful restaurant overseas, which allowed him to develop a strong foundation in customer service and business management.
Upon moving to the United States, he continued his entrepreneurial endeavors in Maryland, starting various businesses across different industries. These experiences provided valuable insights into business operations, marketing strategies, and customer engagement.
It was during this time that Ido decided to enter the retail industry, establishing a business with multiple locations. Through this venture, Ido gained an understanding of customer preferences, market trends, and the importance of creating memorable experiences for clients.
However, this journey took a turn when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, affecting the retail industry significantly. Adapting to the circumstances, we recognized the need to explore new opportunities, and that’s when the idea for Lèlior was born.
At Lèlior, we offer a range of high-quality fragrances and scent experiences that cater to the diverse preferences of our customers. Our products include diffusers, room sprays, scented candles, soaps and more. We strive to provide a sensory journey that captures the essence of luxury, elegance, and personal expression.
What sets Lèlior apart from others in the industry is our commitment to exceptional customer service and attention to detail. We believe in the power of creating personalized experiences, and our knowledgeable team is dedicated to guiding and assisting customers.
Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.
We take pride in manufacturing all Lèlior products in-house at our South Florida facility. From the inception of our brand, we had a clear vision of creating fragrances that met the highest standards of quality and safety. While we didn’t have prior experience in manufacturing fragrance products, we were determined to bring our vision to life.
To ensure the highest level of expertise and craftsmanship, we collaborated with industry experts who guided us through the formulation process. Together, we carefully developed and refined the formulations for each Lèlior fragrance, ensuring they not only met our strict standards but also complied with industry regulations, such as those set by IFRA (International Fragrance Association) and Proposition 65.
One important lesson we discovered was the importance of patience and attention to detail. Rushing the production and manufacturing process can compromise the quality and integrity of the final product. We recognized the significance of dedicating the necessary time and resources to create fragrances that truly embody our brand’s essence.
Finding the right vendors and suppliers who share our values and commitment to quality was also an essential part of our manufacturing journey. We thoroughly researched and vetted potential partners to ensure they aligned with our vision and standards. It was important for us to collaborate with vendors who could bring our formulations to life while maintaining the highest level of quality control. Manufacturing our Lèlior products in-house has allowed us to have full control over the production process, ensuring that each fragrance reflects our commitment to excellence.
We’d appreciate any insights you can share with us about selling a business.
One of the most profound lessons Ido learned when selling his first business is the importance of chasing your dreams and never settling for less. As entrepreneurs, we embark on ventures driven by passion and a vision for success. Selling a business should be seen as a steppingstone towards pursuing new opportunities and realizing our true potential. It is crucial to stay committed to goals and continually strive to turn dreams into reality.
Another valuable lesson I gained from the selling experience is the significance of building transferable value. To attract potential buyers, it is essential to develop systems, processes, and a robust organizational structure that can seamlessly transition to new owners. By creating a business that operates efficiently and independently, we increase its value and make it an appealing prospect for interested buyers.
Maintaining accurate financial records is also very important Clear and precise financial documentation, including profit and loss statements, tax records, and relevant financial contracts, plays a pivotal role in the sale of a business. Potential buyers want to see a transparent financial picture, and having a thorough understanding of your business’s true value aids in negotiations and ensures a smooth transaction.
Seeking professional guidance during the selling process is highly recommended. Enlisting the assistance of business brokers, accountants, or attorneys who specialize in business sales can provide invaluable support. These experts can guide you through the process, help determine the appropriate valuation, and ensure that all legal and financial aspects are handled correctly.
Finally, planning and exercising patience are crucial when selling a business. This is not an overnight process but requires careful strategizing, preparation, and adequate time to prepare the business for sale, identify potential buyers, and negotiate a fair deal. Rushing the process can lead to missed opportunities and undervaluing your business, so it’s important to approach it with a long-term perspective.
