We recently connected with Natalie Garcia and have shared our conversation below.
Natalie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
My parents are a huge inspiration. They impacted my creativity in the way where they allowed me to be imaginative and think out of the box and I free to explore. My parents are very creative, outspoken and even performative in a way. They rebel against social constructs and harmful beliefs that could have negatively held me back especially in my creative and artistic career.
They allowed me to be me and it was a challenge sometimes for them to see their daughter not live a traditional lifestyle, but they also didn’t live traditionally. I mirrored them in a lot of ways and when they read my book, listen to my poetry and come to shows with me they realized their rebellious nature helped me find my own artistic path and they did raise me right way that helped me take risks, put myself out there and be outspoken as well.
Natalie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Writing and poetry is healing for me. I started writing poetry and stories when I was younger, but I never thought it was something that I could possibly be my career. I love performing and connecting with people as well. Naturally, I gravitate to spoken word and storytelling. I am inspired by poets and writers like Maya Angelou and Rumi Kapur. I wrote Cosmica a manifesting poetry and rituals book that reflects my Mexican culture, Indigenous Ancestral and spiritual practices. It focuses on self-love, expansion, healing, awakening the magic within and manifesting through the layers of human emotions. I also created a lifestyle manifestation brand called La Brujita Del Jardin that helps guide individuals on their manifesting journey. We carry affirmation decks, manifesting candles, stationery, and we are developing more books. I believe manifesting comes through emotional and mindset alignment and learning to confidently listen to your intuition and move with intention. I help find tool, resources and best practice to keep you consistently in alignment and find balance even if there’s internal chaos or when things are going your way. Life can adventurous if you want it to be. My poetry has also led me to songwriting and co-creating with Latine indie artists and I am so excited to share new music these coming months.
You can find the Cosmica book and La Brujita Del Jardin brand products can be found on labrujitadeljardin.com. My book is also sold on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Walmart. If you are interested in daily manifesting rituals, tips, and tools my Instagram and TikTok @labrujitadeljardin has a great tips and rituals you can incorporate in your daily life.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist and creative for me is being able to explore, play and manifest the things that help me connect back to myself, my inner child and my spirituality. I love to create as a way to heal and express my emotions. I use to have a hard time expressing my emotions and trusting others, but through my writing and creativity I found a way to be allow myself to flow and find strength and self-love through my vulnerability.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I feel like there’s always moments I need to pivot in my career because I am constantly evolving as an entrepreneur. I was raised by immigrant parents who came to this country to work and survive and create something out of nothing. Many communities of color like the one I am a part of are living on limited resources, lack of education and not enough access tools to help them grow their business or elevate their creative careers. It’s a constant pivot no matter where I am on my journey because I am always unlearning old constructs that made me believe I couldn’t be an artist or entrepreneur. I am always pushing through overcoming a lacking mindset, imposter syndrome and general mental health issues.
I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder in 2021 in the midst of writing my first book. It shook my whole world up, but for the better. I started to understand myself better, I felt more self-aware and I allowed myself to radically accept myself in ways I never felt I could. That was a time I pivoted in a way that I never have before because I found strength in something I was told was going to immobilize me for life. My writing focuses a lot on emotional healing and mental health as well as being transparent and finding magic in even the most difficult parts of our journey. It’s helped tremendously and I hope it helps others too.
