We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Natalie Clark. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Natalie below.
Alright, Natalie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I always had a passion for music but I didn’t think it could be my life and career. So for years I built up my life in Scotland, going to University and eventually becoming a school teacher. I kept doing music but it was a part-time passion, and after a few years I finally got the courage to quit my job and pursue music full time! I went to London for a couple of months but then bought a plane ticket to LA and decided to take the leap in a BIG way! I didn’t know anyone or have a solid plan but I just had the instinct to go for it! I went all in and came to America! Looking back now, it was a massive risk! Moving country, changing career, it was all exciting but completely terrifying too! I’ve been here in LA for a few years now and can honestly say, it was the best decision I’ve ever made – to trust my instinct and take the leap!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a Scottish singer and songwriter and moved to L.A a few years ago to pursue a career in music. I love writing and singing and making music so much and excited to be working on my debut album! My hope is to write and release music that resonates with people and uplifts them! My music tends to have a thread of hope and empowerment through every song and I always hope the songs can move whoever’s listening – whether it’s bringing comfort, reassurance or some kind of light and positivity into their lives!
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My ultimate goal is to make music that affects and helps people as much as the music I grew up listening to has helped me! I think music can be so powerful and can completely change someone’s mood. Whether it’s a playlist of emotional songs that help you process going through a difficult time in your life, or a playlist of songs that help you feel like a badass and uplifts your spirits and confidence! I hope that my music can help people in this way!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I always feel like there’s some kind of magic involved when creating music and it always feels so rewarding to me to be able to write and sing and do what I love to do. So when I get to do that and perform these songs live, and see people resonate with the songs, that always feels so special to me!!
