Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Natalie Brockeveldt. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Natalie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Often outsiders look at a successful business and think it became a success overnight. Even media and especially movies love to gloss over nitty, gritty details that went into that middle phase of your business – after you started but before you got to where you are today. In our experience, overnight success is usually the result of years of hard work laying the foundation for success, but unfortunately, it’s exactly this part of the story that most of the media ignores. Can you talk to us about your scaling up story – what are some of the nitty, gritty details folks should know about?
I love this because it speaks to the reality of building something from the ground up. Scaling Nutri-Fit by Natalie wasn’t an overnight success. It was the result of relentless commitment, calculated risks, and an unwavering belief in the vision I had for my studio. Overcoming obstacles and learning a lot about both my strengths and weaknesses.
When I first started, I was a solo trainer, pouring every ounce of energy into my clients, refining my programs, and constantly learning. From corporate accounts to one-on-one training, the demand grew, and I realized that if I wanted to expand, I needed to do more than just train, I needed to build a solid business. That meant stepping out of the comfort zone of being “just a coach” and becoming a leader, an entrepreneur, and a strategist.
One of the biggest shifts in scaling up was transitioning from an individual service model to a full-fledged fitness and wellness ecosystem. I expanded our offerings beyond personal training to include group fitness, corporate wellness programs, and recovery services. Bringing in specialized wellness partners, such as massage therapists, chiropractors, and mental health professionals has allowed us to serve our community in a more holistic way.
Hiring the right team was both a challenge and a game-changer. Finding people who not only had the technical skills but also aligned with the culture and values of Nutri-Fit took time. But once I did, it allowed me to step out of the day-to-day grind and focus on growing the business

Natalie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve always believed that movement is medicine and that food is more than just fuel, it’s a tool to help people thrive. With over 19 years of experience as a nutritionist and personal trainer, I founded Nutri-Fit by Natalie, an award-winning, boutique-style fitness studio that merges the science of nutrition and fitness to create real, lasting transformations.
My journey into this industry was fueled by a passion for helping people take control of their health in a way that’s both sustainable and empowering. Growing up in Nebraska, I learned the value of hard work early on, and that same work ethic has driven me every step of the way. When I entered the fitness and nutrition space, I quickly realized that so much of the industry was built on quick fixes, unrealistic expectations, and one-size-fits-all approaches that didn’t truly serve people. I wanted to change that.
Having lost 3 of my immediate family members to preventable causes, I knew this was more than a career choice, it was a calling.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Resilience isn’t something you’re born with. I believe it’s something you build, one day, one choice, one moment at a time. My journey has been shaped by loss, but also by an unshakable determination to turn pain into purpose.
I lost my mother to addiction when I was just 19. My little brother, who I loved dearly, was taken in a car accident tied to addiction and drinking and driving. And my father—my rock, my source of strength, passed away from cancer. The weight of that grief could have broken me. Some days, it felt like it might. But I had a choice: to let loss define me or to use it as fuel to create something meaningful.
I chose the latter.
All I have left is my younger brother, and my son is my world. He’s my reason to keep going, to build something greater than myself. Through Nutri-Fit, I’ve created more than just a business, I’ve built a family, a community of people who support, uplift, and challenge each other to become the best versions of themselves.
That’s why I now teach at addiction centers, helping others understand that wellness, lasting wellness, is attainable. I know what it’s like to feel powerless, to watch the people you love struggle, to wonder if healing is possible. And I also know that it is. Movement, nutrition, and a strong community can be the foundation for change, and I’m committed to showing others the way.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
From day one, I’ve built Nutri-Fit by Natalie with a mindset of sustainability and smart growth. I’ve never taken out a loan. Every step forward has been funded through hard work, strategic reinvestment, and a commitment to growing at a pace that aligns with the business itself. I believe in spending within our means and scaling in a way that ensures long-term success rather than quick, unsustainable expansion.
That being said, I have big plans for the future. As I learn, I grow, and when the time is right, I’ll scale Nutri-Fit into something much larger than it is today. But for now, I stay focused on smart, intentional growth, because that’s what will keep us thriving for years to come.
