We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Natalie Brite a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Natalie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
Our motto within DoGoodBiz Studio is “Doing Business Differently”. We place our values at the center of everything we do. We take pride in ensuring that our values are not just a poster on the wall, but are woven throughout the entire fabric of our team, the brands we work with, and the businesses we partner with. This means that we consistently strive to align with partners who share our values and who are committed to making a positive impact on society. Ultimately, we believe that by prioritizing values in this way, we can create a more just and equitable world, one partnership at a time. We continuously find ways to enforce our collaborative, people and planet first approach to cultivate inclusivity and accessibility in spaces.
Some things we do differently:
1. We enforce an anti-hustle culture
2. We do not work on rushed or pressured timelines
3. We pay our team members well above minimum living wages
4. We donate to climate initiatives monthly and other social causes we believe in throughout the year
5. We screen our client leads to ensure they align with our ethical and sustainable marketing approach
6. We only work with brands that practice ethical, transparent, and human centered business
7. We don’t take marketing too seriously! We understand the nature of the industry we work in and how it can be very exploitative, harmful, and privileged. We try to disrupt these things by being very conscious about who we work with and what we speak about as a brand.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I have been working in online marketing for just shy of a decade. I started in the online coaching and consulting sphere, helping small businesses and entrepreneurs grow their business online. After running my business solo, a little over a year ago we moved into a micro agency model and have been growing our agency brand, DoGoodBiz, ever since. Previously, I went to college for art and philosophy.
People come to us because of our unique blend of strategy and creativity as well as our emphasis on community-based business. We avoid approaching business in a hierarchal manner and see our clients as our partners. This mutual collaboration is vital to the success of our business, as it fosters an environment of trust and respect between our team and the brand partners we work with.
We believe that sustainability, creativity, self-expression, and having fun is essential for achieving meaningful and impactful work. These are not merely buzzwords for us, but ways of life. We aim to establish sustainable and innovative approaches to content marketing that leaves a positive impact for future generations. Creativity enables us to think outside of the box and come up with innovative solutions to challenging problems. Folks come to us with the challenges of consistency, burn out, and being tired of doing business alone. They want not only support and to take some tasks off their plate, but they want to feel like they have a team they are working with. Most of the clients we work with are doing far too many things and its causing them to spin their wheels. We help them get organized, strategic, and work smarter rather than harder. We also bring high level design into our services, something that sets us apart as this is a huge focus of our studio but not something very common in a lot of other marketing management agencies. We prioritize creativity, branding, and strategy.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I am really inspired by the thought of influencing how marketing influences us. Marketing, at it’s core, can be incredibly toxic for society. It influences our sense of self, from our esteem to our beliefs. I am driven by the idea of working with brands and small businesses that want to use marketing for good instead of negatively impacting society. This means disrupting the norms within the industry, doing things in a more thoughtful, ethical, and sustainable way. We also are really not about the fluff. There is so much regurgitated information out there…people claiming they have the secret sauce or the one size fits all approach. We believe inclusive and accessible business requires treating every business owner uniquely. Thats why we custom design each package for each client. Every business has different needs, goals, visions, styles, preferences, etc. We honor that.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social media is constantly changing, as in almost daily and definitely weekly there is something new to consider. In saying that, how you build your brand on social media today may look very different next month or year. It is critical to be adaptable, stay current with user behaviors, and to learn how to play the game in a way that aligns with your values. Business owners have to make decisions on what they are versus are not willing to bend on when it comes to social media. A lot of folks will sacrifice their values or humanity for a sale. Though this may work in the short term, its not sustainable in the long term. Consumer behavior shows that people want to connect with brands that stand for something bigger than their products or services. Having a mission that relates to humanity or the planet in a way that gives folks hope or a way to relate with you is everything. Being real and authentic on social media matters far more than being curated or perfect. People want to see a face behind the brand. They want to connect with the humans behind the business. This requires business owners to show up and be present in their brands in order to cultivate meaningful relationships that develop trust and loyalty. Its not about quantity of content, but quality. Most brands are actually creating far too much content in a non-strategic way. Sustainable content creation strategies are all about thinking long term and planting content seeds that will produce a return in the long run. Having a content strategy that includes owned media (blog, podcast, email list) is just as important as building your social presence.
