We were lucky to catch up with Natalia Zavislak recently and have shared our conversation below.
Natalia, appreciate you joining us today. Setting up an independent practice is a daunting endeavor. Can you talk to us about what it was like for you – what were some of the main steps, challenges, etc.
Not long ago, I created the school Distant Language. In an article published in Voyage San Antonio, I explained the bumps on the road I suffered, especially due to launching during the pandemic. My advice is not to give up, focus on your progress, and continue your journey. Mine isn’t finished yet. My next project is The Mind, Body, and Spirit, a holistic school focused on teaching natural healing and therapies, plus providing these services to patients.
I can trace my interest in healing all the way back to elementary school. I used to try healing classmates who were suffering from headaches. Sometimes I had visions in my dreams of speaking an ancient language known as Light Language. Apparently, my great-great-grandmother was a well-known healer who used Light language in combination with herbs to heal people. That gift was transmitted to me several generations later.
In 2009, I started practicing meditation and yoga. That was when I had an awakening in my kundalini. I started having strong visions. Within a year, I started healing people using energy. However, at that time, I was not fully aware that what I was using was called Energy Medicine.
In 2015, I met a colleague in Maryland who had connections to a hospital in Dallas. She was involved in a lab investigating quantum healing. That piqued my interest, so she taught me about things they were doing, e.g. etheric surgery. That same year, I was studying spirituality at the university. It was not until 2021 that I decided to expand to topics such as reiki therapy, sound healing/therapy, life coaching (shamanic, yoga, CBT, relationship, health & nutrition), hypnotherapy, massage therapy, etc. To help get started, I created the podcast Speak Light to talk about the evolution of consciousness and the healing of the Inner Child.
By the end of the year, I had a clear vision of some goals for The Mind, Body, and Spirit. First, I started working as a volunteer for senior centers offering free shamanic workshops to reconnect with inner harmony and mother nature. That helped build the confidence to open my own home therapy center. Clients were frequently curious to learn more about my coaching or healing. Still passionate about teaching, I designed several pathways for healing as both treatments and courses to offer. Each pathway is structured in 3 sessions and students can obtain a diploma accredited by the International Association of Therapists. Several pathways are already available, and more are to come. I’m planning to prepare pre-recorded versions for a variety of apps/platforms. Additionally, I’m looking forward to attending and presenting at relevant events. The journey never ends, and that is the exciting part.
Natalia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My career has been primarily in education, most recently teaching Spanish at Loyola University Maryland. On top of teaching English and Spanish to a variety of levels, I also did academic counseling, including transcultural, and life coaching for students. Combining my gifts as a psychic healer and multidimensional channeler with my experience, I’m currently working on further studies in therapies and coaching.
My special interest is mental health, especially the creation of harmony and balance for the mind, body, and spirit, hence the name of my school and home therapy center. While located in San Antonio, Texas, my focus is to expand my courses and services online. Courses will be offered as both pre-recorded or live sessions. Services will include things like distance healing and online life coaching sessions.
What sets apart this discipline of healing from others is our focus resides on the healing of the multidimensional bodies. We treat full spectrum energy healing (multidimensional healing of the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual bodies).

Apart from these services, we have our star work, the holistical, international, and dual (English/Spanish) courses.
My series of courses is titled The Seven Pathways to Healing (Los Siete Caminos a la Sanación). These pathways (caminos in Spanish) are for healing, coaching, and where the students will learn about different modalities and techniques to achieve the ultimate goal of Enlightenment (Iluminación):
Pathway to Wellness (Camino hacia el bienestar)
Pathway to Joy (Camino hacia la felicidad)
Pathway to Confidence (Camino hacia la confianza)
Pathway to Soul Purpose (Camino hacia el propósito del alma)
Pathway to Light Language (Camino hacia la Lengua de la Luz)
Pathway to Energy Healing (Camino hacia la Sanación de Energía)
Pathway to Channeling (Camino hacia la Canalización)
Students who complete the 7 pathways will obtain two certificates (Master-Chakra Healer & Enlightenment Life Coach) accredited by the International Association of Therapists in the UK. Those who study the courses dually can obtain an additional diploma from Distant Language with the official recognition of the National Dual Language Schools Organization and international accreditation from the ACTFL and the AATSP.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
There are always tough moments in life, but those are the opportunities to show your strength. I have an anecdote that I share with my students and use to remind myself that you can overcome any hard situation. I call it “Ten decisive minutes in my life”. This anecdote comes from when I was living in Spain, where I am originally from. At that time, I was very young and just starting my B.A. in English Linguistics and Literature. I remember perfectly the day I took my first class of North American Literature. I couldn’t understand my professor well and the pressure of being unable to take notes gave me a panic attack. Literally, I had to exit the class and sit down outside. Many things came to my mind at that moment, like “maybe I am in the wrong place” or “maybe it’s better if I quit immediately”. However, something in me told me “it’s okay, just breathe”, and that was exactly what I did. I took a few breaths, and stood up and said “You know what? I’m going to go back to that classroom!” I returned, sat down, and started taking notes. Some of them were incomplete, so I asked for a little help from classmates to fill the gaps. Later, I took English private classes to improve my writing skills. I completed my English degree and went on to earn an M.A. in Education. I moved to the UK and did another M.A in Second Language Acquisition. Shortly after, I moved to the USA and taught Spanish for several years. While teaching at Loyola, I had the aha moment of wanting to study spirituality to be a spiritual counselor. I studied Metaphysics, Ethics, and Buddhism. However, it was not until 2021 when I decided to combine all that with holistic studies in different therapies and coaching for mind, body and spirit in English and Spanish.
With all that said, one of the things I realized is that life is not only about achieving goals, but using those goals to bring you to your purpose. Be on your journey, just keep going, and be focused on what you enjoy doing without being obsessed about results, analytics, etc. That brings unnecessary stress. Don’t get me wrong. I know that it is always good to celebrate an achievement in your life, but celebrate it like progress and not like a destination, because the journey continues and is exactly where we can get our resilience. I went from ten decisive minutes thinking about quitting because my English was not good enough to the point of teaching dually about therapies and coaching in the USA.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson I had to unlearn was not to be labeled in any category. In society, it is very common to be labeled into certain categories or social functions. For example, in my case, I have been working my entire life in education teaching languages. The idea of being a language professor and a healer at the same time sounded a little crazy in the beginning, at least that is what maybe society makes us believe. For several years, I was hiding part of my dreams, when inside of my heart I really wanted to help people heal mentally, physically and spiritually. But that preconception was holding me back until I realized that it was a fixed mindset. After studying therapies and helping people, I showed myself that everything is possible. Even more, right now I am starting to combine teaching and coaching with therapies, which clearly shows that teaching and healing can be not only possible but compatible as well.
You can reinvent yourself, expand your knowledge, and work on other sectors bringing your expertise in other areas and your uniqueness to that other field you have in your dreams. Do not limit yourself to be labeled in any role because accepting other areas and challenges are part of the process of accepting yourself and embody that acceptance in what you do. There is so much to share with this world. Please do not hide your talents. Share them with the world.
