As the founder of Lollipaws Grooming, my mission is driven by a personal and heartfelt desire to create a better environment for both my human clients and their furry companions during the grooming process. This mission holds deep meaning for me as it stems from the unpleasant and distressing experiences I had with my own six shih tzus prior to starting this venture. Before Lollipaws Grooming came into existence, my puppies would often return from the groomers feeling depressed, exhausted, and apprehensive. The sight of them unwilling to enter the salon was disheartening, and I knew something needed to change. Determined to provide my beloved pets with a more positive experience, I embarked on a journey of studying and learning the art of grooming so that I could personally attend to their needs.
This new stage not only brought about a transformation in my shih tzus’ grooming experience, but it also ignited a passion within me to make a difference in the lives of other pets and their owners. I recognized the profound impact that a stress-free and enjoyable grooming experience can have on a furry client’s overall well-being, and I was inspired to extend this gratifying experience to others.
Thus, Lollipaws Grooming was born with the central philosophy of ensuring that every furry client that steps foot into my salon not only receives outstanding grooming services but also returns home wagging their tail with contentment and happiness. My name is Natalia Morales, and I am proud to introduce myself as the owner and founder of Lollipaws Grooming, an aesthetic salon for puppies and kittens. I have always had a passion for animals, and it was through the love and companionship of my own two shihtzus that I discovered my true calling in pet grooming and care.

Before entering the pet grooming industry, I worked in various roles, including as a waitress and bartender in New York City. However, it wasn’t until I received my first two shihtzus that I experienced the profound impact that animals can have on our lives. They brought me love, loyalty, and a sense of peace that helped me manage my own struggles with depression and anxiety.

In 2017, I decided to pursue my passion and enrolled in a reputable pet grooming school in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I dedicated myself to learning and honing my skills, knowing that I wanted to provide the best care and grooming services for pets and their owners. After a year and a half of rigorous training, I opened the doors of Lollipaws Grooming in November 2019.

We strive to provide exceptional services, using high-quality products and employing a team of professional groomers who share the same commitment to excellence. One of the most gratifying aspects of my work is when I encounter puppies or kittens who have had traumatic grooming experiences in the past. Despite the challenges I have faced, including the arrival of COVID-19 shortly after opening and the ongoing struggle to find reliable employees, I remain steadfast in my commitment to providing exceptional service and continually improving my craft.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?

In the realm of business, growing a clientele is integral to success. As I embarked on this journey, I quickly realized that creating a solid relationship with my clients was the most effective strategy to bolster my clientele. By cultivating trust and rapport with each individual, I not only ensured their continuous patronage but also unlocked the potential for organic growth through word of mouth.

Establishing a strong bond with clients is no easy feat, but its benefits are unparalleled. By taking the time to truly understand their needs, preferences, and aspirations, I demonstrated my commitment to their success. This commitment acts as a foundation upon which lasting relationships are built. It is through these relationships that my clientele has grown exponentially.

Word of mouth is a powerful tool in the world of business. Satisfied clients, impressed by the results and service they have experienced, share their positive experiences with their network. This simple act of sharing has proven to be invaluable in expanding my clientele. It creates a chain reaction, where each satisfied client becomes an ambassador for my services, advocating on my behalf. Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

In my earlier years, I wholeheartedly believed that I could please everyone, and it was my responsibility to do so. Growing up, I was always praised for my accommodating nature, and I found solace in being the one who could resolve conflicts and make people feel validated. However, as I stepped into adulthood, I soon realized the fallacy in this thinking.

The lesson I had to unlearn was that not everyone will be pleased with my actions or decisions, regardless of how well-intentioned they might be. I had to understand that it was impossible to satisfy everyone’s expectations, and trying to do so would only lead to frustration and disappointment.

The backstory that contributed to this unlearning is rooted in my early experiences of rejection and disapproval. There were instances where I put immense effort into building a friendship or cultivating a professional relationship, only to face indifference or even hostility from the other party. These rejections took a toll on my self-esteem and left me feeling unappreciated.

It was during these moments of reflection that I realized that not every relationship or opportunity is meant to be. It dawned on me that sometimes people’s preferences, personalities, or interests simply do not align, and it is not a reflection of my worth or capabilities.

To relearn this lesson, I had to shift my focus from seeking external validation to nurturing my own self-worth. I began to develop a deeper sense of self-awareness and confidence, realizing that my value does not depend on others’ approval or satisfaction. This mindset shift allowed me to let go of self-imposed pressure and embrace the notion that it is perfectly alright to be true to myself, even if it means not pleasing everyone.

Unlearning the idea that I should take things personally and embracing the reality that I cannot control others’ reactions has been liberating. It has helped me foster healthier relationships, both personally and professionally, by allowing me to accept disagreements and conflicts as part of life’s natural dynamics. I now prioritize authenticity and growth over the futile pursuit of universal satisfaction, recognizing that a diverse range of perspectives and relationships enriches my journey.
