Nat & Mia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Our company is called Mousse in honor of our beloved childhood dog, Mousse Mel.
When starting our business, my sister Mia and I hit a wall when trying to come up with a name that was remarkable and meaningful. Instead, we decided to write down our values, which was a much easier task. We quickly realized that our company values matched what we learned growing up, and specifically what we learned from rescuing and caring for animals from a young age.
Many special dogs came into our home during our formative years, but Mousse Mel had an extra bit of spice that made her unforgettable. We have so many fond memories with this pup!
Mousse Mel was brave, empathetic, bold, unapologetic and extremely sociable. We strive everyday to run our company with her traits. We often ask ourselves in difficult circumstances: “what would Mousse Mel do?” and the answer is always the same: she would continue to stay true to herself. That’s how we choose to lead our company.

At Mousse, we manage Social Media channels for other companies so that they have more free time on their hands.
We specialize in creating beautiful content that brings valuable messages to our clients’ following, in alignment with brand values. Our boutique experience enables us to cater to each client’s specific needs and to become true strategic partners in their digital marketing journey.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
We are still actively learning this one! It’s daily exercise that keeps us on our toes and helps us get centered when times are tough.
Before we could truly work on our business, we had to move away from a scarcity mindset.
A scarcity mindset held us back, with the constant fear that resources, opportunities, and success were scarce and unavailable to us. By transitioning away from this mindset, we began to see a world of opportunities and abundance instead. And we started believing that we could find our share in the space.
Our new, intentional, mindset allowed us to think more creatively, use our resources with our big goals in mind and feel comfortable taking calculated risks. This mindset shift took us from 0 to 12k dollars in revenue within just 90 days of opening our agency.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Right at the start of our journey, we stumbled upon this game-changing book, “10x is easier than 2x” by Dr. Benjamin Hardy and Dan Sullivan. It was like a guiding light that got us off on the right foot. The book had us thinking about our agency in a whole new way – it’s all about scalability and making sure we’re spending our days doing what truly fires us up.
