We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nat Lopez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nat, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
Oh, absolutely! I’m really excited to share what makes us different in the digital marketing space.
You know, one thing we really focus on is helping our clients explore all the free options out there first. It’s just the smart way to use resources wisely before diving into anything costly. I’ve seen so many places that jump straight to selling expensive services without really considering what’s best for the client. We prefer to keep things simple and genuine, providing true value from the get-go.
When a new client comes on board, my first move is to sit down and really listen to what they’re aiming for. It’s all about understanding their goals and working together to create a strategy that’s realistic and aligned with their vision. We’re not just chasing quick wins; it’s about setting them up for long-term success.
And honestly, my clients are more than just business contacts to me—they’re like family. Building long-lasting relationships based on trust is super important. I make sure they’re informed and confident at every step. If our services aren’t the best fit, I’m always happy to help them find an alternative that works within their budget.
In the end, it’s all about integrity and growing together over the long haul.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Nat, and I’m the founder and creative director of The Business Theory. You know, I’ve always been passionate about helping business owners get their footing online and really make the most out of what the digital world has to offer.
My journey kicked off in 2009 when I started designing websites just as a hobby. It quickly became clear that this was my true calling, so I dove in and turned it into a full-fledged career. Now, with over ten years of experience under my belt, I’ve had the privilege of helping numerous businesses enhance their online presence and connect with their perfect audience.
What I really enjoy is working closely with business owners. It’s important to me that they not only grasp the digital landscape but also learn how to leverage it to their benefit. My ultimate aim is to help businesses thrive online, and I genuinely believe that with the right strategy and guidance, there’s nothing they can’t achieve.
I’m particularly proud of my commitment to honesty and integrity. I have no interest in selling clients services they don’t need. Instead, I focus on helping them understand the industry and crafting a personalized plan that fits their unique needs and budget. It’s all about creating strategies that truly benefit the client, rather than forcing them into a one-size-fits-all solution.
If you’re ready to take your business to the next level, I’m here to help. Let’s work together to create something great!
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
One thing that’s really helped me build my reputation is my genuine interest in helping my clients. Growing up in a family with business owners, I’ve always felt a deep connection to other business owners. It’s almost like this protective instinct kicks in, and I feel compelled to look out for them.
In a world where so many are just out to make a quick buck, I get really bothered by those who take advantage of business owners. That doesn’t sit well with me at all. So, I’ve always made it a point to be honest with my clients. I think they can sense that I’m not just trying to upsell them or push unnecessary services. It’s about building trust and showing them that I’m genuinely interested in their success. I believe that’s what has truly set me apart in this market.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is getting to be a part of someone’s digital journey. I absolutely love design and creation, so when I have the opportunity to craft an online presence for a client and offer advice on what works best, it really energizes me.
What truly adds to the joy is seeing how a website design I create can completely turn around a client’s business. It’s amazing when they start getting leads they were missing out on before. It’s like giving their business a facelift, and witnessing that transformation is incredibly fulfilling.
There’s something special about knowing that every project I work on carries a small piece of me. It’s like leaving a personal legacy online, and it feels almost like I’m creating something that’s digitally eternal. It’s hard to put into words, but it’s incredibly satisfying to know that my work continues to have an impact long after it’s completed.
