We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nasim Hoomanrad a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Nasim, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?

Find Love Within began with finding love everywhere. In 2012, I embarked on my spiritual awakening, not knowing it then. I had moved back to Houston to be closer to family, and in the same year, I ended my engagement; was in a dream position that left me feeling powerless and depleted; friendships that were shifting, changing, and ending; and social activities like clubbing and partying no longer felt good to me. Who I knew myself to be was going through a radical change that I hadn’t prepared for (cue: Saturn’s return for my astrology buffs).

Nasim, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

As a social worker in the field of domestic and sexual violence for over a decade, I experienced a great deal of burn out, secondary trauma, and empathy fatigue. These experiences were the catalyst to bring me back to myself in a way I never knew. While Reiki energy healing became a vital part of my self-care practice, it had a much deeper impact on my life. I never imagined 10 years ago that I would get to be doing what I do now and serving as an energetic and spiritual conduit for healing in this sacred and special way.

I was introduced to Reiki back in 2011 and had my first Reiki energy healing experience in 2012. I didn’t believe it at first as I wasn’t consciously tapped into my spiritual self up to that point. I can’t tell you what happened, but I knew I felt different after that first session. My heart felt open and lighter. My body and emotions were more grounded and rooted as my life uprooted back to Texas.

Coming back to Houston, I was initiated into a series of experiences and events that ignited my spiritual awakening. Life felt uncertain and unstable as aspects of myself and identity crashed before me. Led to a number of spiritual pursuits and modalities to help gain clarity and understanding of what was happening, I remembered the impact Reiki had on me once before. So I brought it back into my life as part of my self-care regimen to help me cleanse and clear the energetic debris I was taking on in my work and personal life. While I didn’t completely understand it, my spirit did. My energetic body was connected to it. Emotionally and mentally I felt more clear and stable as life happened around me. Over time, Reiki became my spiritual connector and guide in a subtle, yet profound way.

By 2015, I began working regularly with a Reiki practitioner who was also teaching me along the way. She knew I had a gift in this work, yet to be recognized by me. In 2017 I felt the call to become trained and attuned. I had yet to know how this would change my life and what role this work would play in my future. At the time, I was still growing into my spiritual prowess – learning, practicing, and embodying the teachings I was led to. My self-love practice becoming a main priority in my life as I dove deeper into getting to know myself and connection with love, I began to take note of how my external life was changing as my inner world was healing and awakening.

A couple months after Find Love Within was born, I was nudged ferociously by the Universe to leave my full time social work job. Here we go again, not knowing what’s next but knowing I had to surrender and trust. And I am so grateful I did…Since 2018, I have had the honor of working with clients all over the world – in-person, virtually, and remotely – as we journey together into their inner worlds. The space we create is sacred, it is safe, and it is loving. I believe Reiki (like any spiritual modality) finds us, pulls us to it. Those that are called to work with me are called to deepen into themselves as much as they may be thinking they are coming to work on someone or something else in their life. Our external world is a mirror reflection of what is happening within us. As we awaken to this truth and understanding, we create a more refined and holistic relationship with life itself – the self as life.

Find Love Within embodies 3 components – healing, consulting, and creating.

Healing: I serve as a channel of light and shadow, the discoverer and integrator of all of our parts known and unknown. You bring the puzzle pieces, and I help you understand each one as we put them together. Every Reiki session begins with a conversation tapping into what the client is dealing with. A lot of healing happens just in that. Then the client gets to relax, often falling asleep or going into a meditative state of consciousness as I work on their energetic field, cleansing and clearing energetic debris, limiting subconscious beliefs, past lives, inner child integration, shamanic journeying, and much more. Every session is different as it is exactly what the client needs in that moment. We set an intention and surrender to the divine will of universal consciousness, guides, and angels to lead us both in what is the client’s highest and greatest good. Every session is a co-creation. I am not your healer, you are your healer. My job is to connect you back to the healer within you.

For those who are ready to go deeper, to commit to a practice of self-inquiry, expanded awareness, and self-love, I offer Soul Awakening sessions. These are 2 hour sessions that consist of an hour of spiritual coaching and parts work to uncover the emotional and mental blocks stuck in the body and psyche that have you self-sabotage, recreate old patterns, and leave you in fear of becoming your highest and best self. Then we move into a Reiki session that allows us to move and transmute all those uprooted energies, helping you heal on through all bodies (physical, emotional, mental, energetic, and spiritual). Soul Awakening sessions are powerful and awaken you to aspects of yourselves you’ve yet to know. I will hold your hand and we will journey through the depths together.

For my astrology fans, Cosmic Reiki gives you a 2 hour reading of your natal chart while we alchemize tight planetary conjunctions that can create energetic blocks and challenges in your life. You will leave this session feeling a weight lifted off of you, realizing how much of your life and what you’ve experienced was all written in the stars. Your soul chose this path and the lessons in it. In this session, we create an access for you to know yourself as the creator of the rest of your life.

Consulting: I have transitioned out of my role as a social worker and now serve as a consultant for non-profit organizations who are interested in staff processing, group facilitation, retreat support, and bringing a healing justice framework into their organizational practice. nflow Consulting is where I get to bridge my experience and expertise in the social justice sector with the gifts as a healer, facilitator, and space holder to bring expanded healing in the spaces of service, trauma, and injustice. We will be accepting new organizations for our healing justice work in fall 2022.

Creating: Embarking on my self-love journey opened my creative energies in a surprising way. Many of us who have been caught in the conditioning of capitalism and scarcity have learned to suppress and deny our creative energies. My own work opened me to the beautiful art of photography and pour painting. Mystic Pour, Reiki-infused pour paintings, was created in the spring of 2020 and has been a special gift I get to play in and offer the world. Custom requests and commissions are available.

Find Love Within also offers classes (Reiki levels 1, 2, and Master; pour painting) and group offerings (Reiki for your organization/family/events; spiritual conversation groups; and collaborations/retreats).

Find Love Within is ever-evolving…because I am ever-evolving. You will grow with me as long as you are willing to lean in. You will expand into your sweet soul as long as you are devoted to your heart’s calling. You will love more deeply as long as you are committed to a love beyond your knowing. Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

You might think my business needed to pivot after March 2020 when the world went virtual. Energy healing and coaching are available and accessible virtually. With many of my clients living all over the world, virtual healing was not a new concept to my practice. However, my local clients weren’t keen on going virtual during the pandemic. They wanted to see me in-person and have our sessions in the office. I didn’t blame them as I, too, loved getting to do this work in-person.

Over 2020-2022, my practice tripled and I was seeing clients in-person 3-4 times a week. I was so grateful for the way the practice organically grew during the course of humanity’s troubling times. But I wasn’t surprised as this was the time for it. The time for healing, for spiritual advancement, and to find our way back home – that home being the connection to our spirit and bodies – was here whether we were ready for it or not.

As 2022 was rolling in, the Universe was nudging me upon a new path, and once again I found myself resisting the call. After the ending of a relationship, I found myself in the world of house and pet-sitting. I was being called to discover home (and myself) newly and this was the way I was meant to do so. It was giving me the opportunity to be nomadic as I embarked on the next level of my healing, awakening, and spiritual path. And I was terrified to leave my practice in Houston. It was the only thing keeping me rooted and secure as my personal life went through an overhaul. “What if my clients don’t come along? What if they don’t want to do virtual sessions? Will I lose everything I’ve worked so hard on creating these last 4 years?”

The signs kept coming for me to head to Colorado. I had been in this predicament before – though not exactly this one. Remember back in 2012 when my world was coming undone and the Universe was nudging me to surrender and follow its path, not my own? Here I was again. I knew what I needed to do. The Universe and our spirit team always know the way. Our job is to listen and trust, to let go and surrender.

Two years after the rest of the world had gone virtual and many were coming back to their offices and in-person work, I was pivoting my entire practice to going online. There was a risk; there is always a risk. I may lose my clients. I may gain more. I didn’t know what would happen, but I was given enough knowing to lean into the uncertainty.

As I write this 8 months later, I am so grateful once again for surrendering to a higher knowing and trusting the path unseen and unknown to my human mind. It was terrifying and expansive at the same time. Pivoting my practice online has been a gift to both me and my clients this last year. They have gotten to experience the power of intention and energy work beyond their own knowing of what it could look and feel like, amazed by the experiences and depths they’ve been able to go into in the comfort of their own home and me thousands of miles away. It has deepened their faith and trust of what’s possible…and mine. And it’s given me the ability to find home within me so that wherever I go, I am always at home. When I am home, I get to help others find their way home too.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

INTEGRITY. Integrity has been a life practice and strategy that has made a significant impact in growing my clientele. Majority of my clients are referred by a friend, family, or colleague. Word-of-mouth referrals, to me, are the most meaningful type of referral because that means people trust you with the people they love the most. Knowing they are going to be taken care of by you. That their experience was so impactful that they want other people in their life to experience your work and gifts. And to uphold that trust with my practice and clients requires a high level of integrity. That means when you book your appointment for 2pm, we will get started at 2pm. That means when I tell you I’m going to follow up with you with a resource or practice, you can expect to receive it. That means when I am giving you homework to expand your healing integration, you can trust that I’m doing it too for my own.

Trust is created when you follow through on your word – when you walk your talk. This is also true when it comes to the actual work – energy work, inner child/shadow work, meditation, embodiment, and self-love practices. Everything that I am guiding you on is work that I have done myself and/or continuing to do in my own life as part of my own devotion to my self-love journey. When I began as a social worker, I used to tell all my clients all about self-care and how to do it. Yet, I wasn’t doing it myself and wondering why they weren’t either. When I realized this, I vowed to never be that kind of practitioner again. That kind of inauthenticity can be felt. But so can authenticity – which is why integrity is one of my core life and business values.

People know what to expect from me and that gives them a sense of safety – even if they don’t know what to expect from the healing journey they will embark on at each session. That level of trust is necessary to do the type of deep inner work we do together. The body and psyche must feel safe in order to open up and go into those depths. It is there where discoveries are made and healing takes place. Integrity = Trust = Safety = Healing = Sharing = Love Expanded
