We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nasia Eastt a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nasia, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
The story behind my mission has always been to encourage everyone through my work and own experiences to keep going, never give up, always believe in yourself, trust the process & put God first!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Nasia Eastt, I’m a makeup artist / beauty content creator located in Miami,Fl..Coming into the Beauty Industry was never a thought up until 2017 a year after graduating highschool..it was a hobby I picked up and at the time had no idea how far I’d would take me..
I provide almost all makeup services, the natural looks, dramatic looks, eyebrows & lashes etc also at the beginning of this year I begin taking my beauty content creator career a little more serious and quickly began to grow an audience..
I think one problem I solved to help clients would be to have grace toward them, be considerate & always assure them that they’ve come to the right place for whichever service they decide to book. I think what sets me apart from others is my passion for my craft, I don’t do it for the money I do it simply out of the love I have for makeup. In these times it’s hard to come across someone who is genuine in what they do & I feel like that excludes me, I’m always looking for ways to include other makeup artist & just artists in general, for quick example I started a Instagram page this year where I have makeup artist from all over the world share their amazing looks & give makeup tips, I want to be able to give the artist that feel overlooked a place to shine & create a platform where we all could connect..@MUABAE__
I think by far I’m the most proud of how far I’ve came thus far. Coming from a place where I felt stuck and felt as if I wasn’t elevating I had to take a moment of realization and self reflect a bit and think about what I could do to make my life and situation better. I prayed to God and asked for his guidance and learned to be ok with the now knowing that God has a plan for me, moving with this mindset and actually putting in the work and believing in myself got me a job offer in a beauty salon, my clientele’ grew tremendously, I hit 1.8M views while reviewing a beauty product on tiktok and the list goes on all within a span of 4 months, so I will forever be proud of myself for not giving up.
The main thing I’d want my potential supporters/ clients to know is that what you see with me is what you get. I’m authentic, fearless, motivating and unapologetically me so I feel like this attracts a lot of supporters that can relate to these characteristics and I want them to know that they’ll always have someone who will be able to help, inspire & motivate them. In a world where it seems everything and everyone is the same it is easy for others to get caught up in the fake social media standard and feel as if they are supposed to be further than what they are, I am here to tell you it is not a race nor competition, everyone have their own journey & path, it is up to you to know not to feel discouraged and that your time is coming soon..
How did you build your audience on social media?
I decided to take TikTok & just my social media presence more serious at the beginning of March 2022 after not being consistent enough when I originally started in 2020. So I didn’t go into it pressuring myself to follow a certain look, At the beginning I got on there showing my skill(makeup) and being closed off. Not really speaking into the camera, being shy afraid to try certain things but I realized in order to be where I wanted to be I had to let the that go.
So I begin just being myself. Not faking anything or trying to put on just unapologetically me, I started showing my personality, cooking videos, days in my life, along with doing beauty content as well , that’s when the audience came they gravitate more to real, authentic-ness, things they could relate too & things they could learn from. Also be consistent, never feel like you are posting to much especially if you’re tying to grow your social media presence, be active, communicate with your audience, don’t leave comments unanswered because that’s what ALOT of so called influencers do. You want to build trust with them & a actual connection.. I sat at around 300 follower from 2020 til 2022 up until I started applying these steps and now I’m here 7K followers Later! Also remember to never give up!
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Sure! I feel like you never really know you have to be resilient until it’s time to be, you know? Thinking back to a time where I went through personal issues all while trying to grow my business I didn’t let it stop me. If anything it added fuel to my fire, I did not let what I been through define me and I will never allow it, so I feel like if you know that, you’re forever resilient and you will get through anything..what’s that saying? “ when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade”..
