We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nash Hoover a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nash, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s talk about social media – do you manage your own or do you have someone or a company that handles it for you? Why did you make the choice you did?
I’ve always handled the social media accounts for my main business and various projects myself. It’s a lot of work, and while I know I could be posting more consistently, juggling business ownership, fatherhood, and other commitments makes it tough to stay on top of everything.
That said, I still choose to manage it personally because I genuinely enjoy connecting with my audience. But I won’t lie, some extra help now and then would definitely go a long way.

Nash, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi, I’m Nash Hoover. A filmmaker, director, and the founder of REDsquare Productions, based in Minnesota. I’ve been passionate about storytelling for as long as I can remember, and that passion has evolved over the years into a full-fledged career where I get to bring stories to life on screen, whether it’s a gritty action film, a mysterious documentary, or branded content for clients.
I officially launched REDsquare Productions as a way to create the kind of content I wasn’t seeing out there. Films and series with depth, intensity, and a strong emotional core, even when dealing with larger-than-life subjects. We offer full-scale video production services: from concept development and pre-production, to cinematography, post, and final delivery. Whether I’m directing a narrative film or producing a documentary in the middle of the jungle, I’m deeply involved in every step of the process.
My career started with a deep curiosity about the unknown. That led to the creation of Chasing Legends, a documentary series where I investigated legendary cryptids from around the world. The show combined scientific inquiry with adventure storytelling.
More recently, I’ve been focused on narrative filmmaking, including “The Aces”, a gritty independent action film that follows an elite CIA quick reaction force as they confront dangerous missions and personal demons. It’s a project I’m incredibly proud of, not only because of the story we’re telling but also because it represents the kind of hands-on, heart-driven filmmaking I believe in. I’ve been managing everything from development to casting to promotion, and it’s been a massive but rewarding undertaking. I also recently completed “The Purr-fect Crime”, a noir-comedy short that puts a playful spin on the classic detective story, showcasing the different range of stories we like to tell.
What sets REDsquare Productions apart is our commitment to authenticity and cinematic quality, no matter the budget. We don’t just “shoot video”, we craft visual experiences with real emotional weight and strong storytelling. Whether it’s a cryptid documentary or a scripted action film, I always aim to create work that resonates, entertains, and leaves a lasting impact.
I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve built this path independently. Every project has been a learning experience and a step forward, and I’m grateful for the community of supporters, collaborators, and viewers who’ve come along for the ride.
If there’s one thing I want people to know about my work, it’s that I care deeply about every frame, every line, and every story. REDsquare Productions isn’t just a company, it’s an extension of my creative vision, and I’m excited to keep pushing the boundaries of what we can do next.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
I don’t have a single co-founder or business partner, instead, I work with a network of trusted collaborators who each bring their own unique creative vision and strengths to every project.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I was always an imaginative kid, and I’m grateful that my family never tried to stifle that. They encouraged my creativity instead of pushing me in a more “practical” direction. My dad introduced me to the classic action films of the ’80s and ’90s, while my grandfather shared his love for slapstick and satirical comedies. That mix had a huge influence on me creatively. Now, as a 31-year-old, the most rewarding part of being a creative is that I still get to let my imagination run wild. I get to have fun making the weirdest, coolest stuff I can dream up, and that’s a pretty amazing thing.
