We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nash Daniels a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nash , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
I live and travel full time in a 2005 Chevy Suburban. I’ve play solo acoustic shows at breweries, wineries, dive bars and the occasional ticketed venue for the last 5 years. Prior to the last 3-4 months I’ve been based out of small-town Bryan TX in a shitty camper trailer. Paying lot rent at the trailer is no longer financially sustainable. Planet Fitness, Walmart, state parks and friends houses along the way are where I call home nowadays.
I’ve played shows as far north at Laramie WY and as far South as Key West FL. This April and May I will be all up and down the I-25 corridor. The month of May will end with shows in the far west Texas towns north of Big Bend National Park. After a few days back home in Brazos Valley, I will travel to Virginia in June where I’ll spend my 30th birthday. North Carolina and Georgia shows after that. Along the way, when I’m not playing shows I’ll either be busking the streets or searching thru Goodwill clothing racks for my vintage resale company on Instagram called @Shirtzzz6

Nash , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I play sad songs. I play pretty songs and some of my songs are just pretty sad.
Kerosene Pipedreams is the name of my Folk band. I picked up the guitar for the first time in November of 2018 and by June of 2019 I was playing music full time.
I might not make a lot of money doing it but someday I might make a living. For now it’s just a Pipedream. “Memento Mori” is the title of my first EP release in 2021.
Songs about mental health, highways, trains, prison reform, the human condition, infidelity and murder.
I will be releasing my 2nd EP on June 16th 2024
If you have a chance to come see a performance of mine in the future, I hope to make you chuckle a handful of times in those 3 hours. If I’m REALLY on my game, I hope to make you cry at least once.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
“There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique, and if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium; and be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, not how it compares with other expression. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware directly to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than the others.”
