We recently connected with Naphatia Edwards and have shared our conversation below.
Naphatia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I started my acting career over a decade ago in musical theatre. I was working on it every single day. Come 2018 and I became pregnant. I was still pursuing my career, but things seemed to be slowing down. After I had my daughter, Covid started soon after, things came to halt and I decided to take a break and focus on mother hood.
After 2 years, I decided it was time to get back into the game and I started working my way back into acting. I did book one project, but I wasn’t really getting a lot of bite. So my husband and I decided to move from Indiana to Georgia, for a new start and better opportunities for my career.
We worked virtually with a great realtor, Anyonna Scott, to find a home to buy. She worked with us to make sure we found a home that would suit us and my cousin was able to do some physical walk throughs for us. When we finally found our home, we packed 99% of everything in a weekend, with the help of my family, and we drove 9+ hours to Georgia to a new home and new life.
Since living in Georgia over two years; I have made connections on the acting community, I have found a great agent and acting coach, and I have also started taking my content creation more seriously. I have been casted in two films, a short and a feature(not out yet).
We took this big risk, moving to another state without much family. We did this for better opportunies for our family.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started out in Musical theatre in 2010 and after a couple of years doing that, I ventured into film. I made connections through Facebook acting groups. I also started a YouTube channel and Instagram around the same time. So I was also starting to create my own content for social media.
I took some major breaks since staring out in the entertainment/creative space, but recently I have been going full force and I am seeing great results. I am gaining amazing engagement on my platforms and I have reall stepped into my own.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
In my acting career, I wish I would have had better acting classes around me. It seemed like it was hard to fine an acting class where I lived and I believe I would have been furthur in my career than I am now.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Seeing your work out there. For a long time I tried to be like other creatives who had a bigger following than me. I thought I had to do exactly what they did to suceed.
But the moment I said to myself, what do you like to see when you scroll social media? That is what you should put out. So, now I put out content that speaks to me and people seem to enjoy it.
