Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Naomie Blush. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Naomie , appreciate you joining us today. One of the toughest parts of scaling a business is maintaining quality as you grow. How have you managed to maintain quality? Any stories or advice?
Since being in business for 7 years now, I am very aware that customer service plays a very integral part of my business. I have made it a point to find new ways to make each and every experience with my clientele satisfactory. It does come with high reward as a business owner, but I value most how my clients feel when they are with me, or have purchased a product.
Naomie , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hi, I’m Naomie, Owner of Blushed By Naomie LLC. I am an Atlanta based MUA, 2x certified lash tech, and have a luxurious line of beauty products. I have owned and operated BBN for 7 amazing years. I aim to serve anyone who is looking to enhance their look with ilash extensions, brow tinting and waxing, brow tattooing, or with a makeup application. My services are also matched with top tier customer care and attentiveness to each client’s needs. For those that may not be in the Atlanta area, no worries, I have a brand of silky smooth body butters for any and all skin types! I also have a premier set of makeup brushes, 3D mink strip lashes, and a 5 shade collection of nude lip glosses! I can say that I am most proud of the journey with BBN that has brought me so many opportunities to meet some amazing people. I have also loved the growth in my clientele as well as my techniques. I would want my brand to inspire any one to find their passion and use those gifts/talents to experience the world around them. There’s still so much to see that I know BBN will help guide me there.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I think we can all agree that COVID was a pivotal moment for anyone in business. But more specifically with my line of work I was no longer able to service my clientele as normal. And that took me for a loop!!! At first I was distraught, then angry, and then I got busy! Busy finding ways to still uphold my customer care, while still delivering results. I began hosting online makeup classes to keep the brand going, I put more emphasis on my product line to push sales, I even began selling clothing and accessories to target a bigger audience and it was the best decision I made during that time. Once the panic died down and I was able to service my clients in person, I was still able to maintain the selling of the accessories and product line.
Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
Long story short, I started with ZERO dollars. Now, I’m not saying you should also, but I will say having a plan will be your saving grace. Within a weeks time of Step The Barber asking me about becoming an in house MUA, I was searching for a business name. With the support of my family and friends I was able to secure myself as an up and coming MUA spring of 2015. Now 7 years later, I am proud to call my self a business owner, and I built this dream from a request and unconditional support.
