We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Naomi Richards. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Naomi below.
Alright, Naomi thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
What my parents did right and how it impacted my life is growing me up in a Christian household. I learned how to love everyone in their own way and how to treat others whether they are mean or nice. I learned how to impact others in a positive way. My parents did their best to show me God Grace and how he loves us. Even tho sometimes I would think that God may not feel as if he is there, my parents tell me and also the Bible says God will never leave me nor forsake me. I have learned to love those who may not think or see things the way I do. God gives grace and I choose to keep that grace that God gives. When I was going through my situation being in and out the hospital my faith wasn’t so strong but having positive friends, love ones and my parents, they helped me to keep the faith and to keep pushing. It wasn’t easy having to go through a tough patch in my life but I still kept a smile on my face and trusted God that he will bring me out. My journey started off rough but I came out by winning.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
How I got into singing, well when I was young seeing my mom direct the choir at Banner of Love Apostolic Church during the time we were going there, at the age of 7 I wanted to sing and decided to give my life to Christ, I wanted to sing on the choir. I saw that passion in my mom eyes that I also wanted to have as well. Then by the age of 12 I was singing on the Youth Choir at Gospel Tabernacle Apostle Church. By 2019 my parents got ordained as pastors by B.J Makananisa at Charis Missionary Church of SA. My parents are now Charis Missionary Church Fort Lauderdale here in FL. I am now singing at my parents church and other churches that invite me to sing at concerts, weddings or praise and worship. What I’m most proud of is being able to share my story and being able to still sing for God glory. What sets me apart from others is being me and giving others a chance because if God is a forgiving God and he tells us to love others then that is what I will do. My unique combination of skills, experiences, perspective and personal qualities set me apart from others.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
There is a particular goal and mission. My goal is to get my book out by August called “ The Grace God gives to Walk Again”. My mission is to share my journey with others and let them know that they aren’t alone and God doesn’t give us the spirit of fear but a sound mind.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
During the time when I was in the hospital I was being told many things and what I should do. I had to make a decision that was best for me and even with the doctors getting mad at me because they wanted me to be on their timing, I trusted God. Going to Physical Therapy afterwards to be told I would never walk again, only going there 6 times. I knew I had to prove them wrong. So worked hard and pushed myself to show them that they were wrong and now I’m walking and thanking God for keeping me even though others gave up on me.
