We recently connected with Naomi Cladovan and have shared our conversation below.
Naomi, appreciate you joining us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
A defining moment in my career happens very often. Working with all sorts of skin concerns, everyone’s main goal is always to see results. As a professional that is my goal as well and when me and my client finally get to the point where we see them it’s so worth it. That’s what makes my job so amazing, having those moments often with your clients and giving them the results/confidence they’ve been striving for.
Naomi, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Personally dealing with skin issues myself, this field seemed like a no brainer to me. I love helping others and my passion for skin became that more heightened. As an esthetician, my biggest goal is to be as authentic as possible. Whether that is setting realistic expectations on seeing results or making sure I’m recommending things because they need it and not just to sell. I definitely like to specialize in acne prone skin, me myself having that skin type, because it’s easier to understand how my clients feel. It’s hard to be vulnerable and having skin issues that take away your confidence doesn’t feel great. I make sure my clients know that no matter what, all skin is beautiful. Acne doesn’t define you. Scars don’t define you and so on, so forth. This is why being an esthetician means so much to me. I know what it’s like having that mindset where you don’t feel beautiful because of a skin problem.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
I always say succeeding is a great thing to do but failing is also. I see failures as a way to grow in your field and give you more insight on what it is you need to do next time. Count your successes but take your failures as a learning opportunity.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Get out of your comfort zone! My field is all about people and creating that professional relationship/bond. Growing your clientele is hard, especially if there are others out there trying to do the same thing but don’t look at everyone else as competition. You’re going to shine in your own way and the clients that stick with you will see that. Be yourself!
