We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nancy Cook. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nancy below.
Hi Nancy, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I would have to say when I designed my first set in sewing class my junior year of high school. It was something I felt incredibly proud of. The same year is when I gave up my lunch period so that I could add art class into my schedule. I had about 5 minutes to eat that year between classes!

Nancy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
The woman behind the glasses is Nancy Cook. Vintage Seller, Stylist, Photo Editor, DJ, Talent Booker, Artist, Musician, Curator and Designer.
Crash Doll Vintage is clothing and accessories from the past, for the present.
Nancy is also available for personal and professional styling and has experience with film and still shoots.
Nancy started her career as a Photography Editor working with historical imagery, entertainment, art and fashion, representing many professional and talented artists and helped create a digital database, editorial photo shoots, NYC fashion week, magazines, book projects, art shows and more.
Nancy then moved into fashion and taught herself pattern making, sewing, knitting, weaving, embroidery and natural dyeing.
Nancy began creating installation and textile art and has been a part of many group and solo shows.
Nancy had her own line, Wool and Violets, creating hand knit and sewn pieces for women and children.
Nancy then switched paths and, Crash Doll Vintage came to be in 2020!
Nancy is also an event planner and has been creating fun, creative, professional and memorable events since 2016 – curated art shows, vintage shows, live music, pop-ups, tastings, salon style discussions, private parties, dj nights and craft workshops. Nancy also work as a fashion and prop stylist for still and film .
Nancy also has a music project and DJ’s!
I’m proud of my work on all that I do. It is especially exciting to put together a photography shoot, art show and curated events – working on the process from beginning to end. I get a lot of joy from creating something I believe in and seeing it happen.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I built a presence through diligent posting, branding elements that remain consistent, being true to my own individual style and creative path. Also, connecting with others. Keep putting yourself out there and reach out to others!

Have you ever had to pivot?
I had to pivot in 2020 as Covid hit in the US, I knew I would lose my three part time jobs and would be unable to do events. One week in, Crash Doll was born. :)
