We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nancy Bradfield. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nancy below.
Nancy, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’re complete cheeseballs and so we love asking folks to share the most heartwarming moment from their career – do you have a touching moment you can share with us?
At a facility hospice visit with Rosie the Rabbiter, we were with an elderly, very frail female patient. I was showing her Rosie’s big feet and commenting on how big and soft they were. This sweet lady reached up to feel Rosies paw and said “Lawd have mercy”…… you could tell she was enjoying the interaction. She passed approx 48 hours later. I can only hope that we brought a tiny bit of joy to her last hours.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Our nonprofit began with a simple yet powerful idea: that love, comfort, and healing can come in the form of soft fur, long ears, and a gentle heart. And that’s exactly what our Flemish Giant rabbits—and now pygmy goats—bring to those in need.
My journey into animal-assisted therapy started with Rosie the Rabbiter, a Flemish Giant rabbit whose calm and loving presence sparked something incredible. What began as a few visits to patients quickly grew into a calling—bringing hope and peace to people battling PTSD, depression, anxiety, and terminal illness.
As a veteran family, this mission is personal. My husband, and co-founder, is a Bronze Star recipient who understands firsthand the invisible wounds our veterans carry. That’s why we now also provide trained Emotional Support Rabbits to Kansas veterans—completely free of charge.
What sets Rosie’s Snuggle Bunnies apart?
We aren’t just a feel-good experience—we’re a purpose-driven, veteran-founded nonprofit with trained therapy animals, a commitment to those in crisis, and a heart for service. Our animals are specially selected and trained to provide calm, meaningful interactions in hospitals, hospices, VA centers, schools, and care facilities.
But what truly sets us apart is our newly launched Veteran ESA Program, designed to provide qualified Kansas veterans with their very own Emotional Support Rabbit—complete with all necessary start-up supplies and ongoing support. This isn’t just a gift; it’s a commitment to long-term mental wellness and companionship for those who’ve given so much.
Whether you’re here as a supporter, volunteer, donor, or someone looking for meaningful therapy services, please know:
We are 100% volunteer-run and donation-funded.
We focus on high-impact, individualized therapy—not entertainment.
We believe every veteran, every patient, and every person deserves comfort and connection.
We are committed to honoring Rosie’s legacy by continuing to grow, train, and serve across Kansas and beyond.
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
When I met Clint, I had inherited two small rabbits of my daughters once she left for college. As we realized our relationship was blooming into something more permanent, he requested that we get “more manly rabbits”….. soon after, we welcomed Rosie the Rabbiter — a Flemish Giant rabbit into our home.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start?
For the first 4 years of our service, Clint and I self funded the program. As our reach began to grow, so did our needs for funding and volunteers. We are still fledglings in this area and have relied on an annual fundraiser supported by our VFW members and small events. As we gain more exposure and traction with the Veteran ESA Program, we hope that business will join us in the mission helping to fund the supplies and veterinary care.
