We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nancy Alonso a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nancy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I wanted to do something I was flexible with my family. Being able to work on my schedule is a blessing. Being with my children is a very big part of my life and I did not want to change that. I schedule everyone at my time and when I’m available. A risk every entrepreneur has to take but if its worth it to the person it can work.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I grew a lot with word of mouth, many people has recommended me because they like my work. I also joined an organization where they recognized it as a growing business in the Houston area.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
I did not need no capital to start, I offered my services. If you are good at something showcase your talents and people see for themselves. learning to take risks is something you’ll love along the way.
Any fun sales or marketing stories?
I had a client say she’s been wanting to organize her home since she moved in her home (10 years ago) and she showed me pictures and I told her I can do the job in one day, sold it just by that comment and went to her home that same week and the magnitude of happiness her entire family had was so shocking. Her words were “You did in one day, what I been wanting to do in 10 years”
