Today we’d like to introduce you to Namrata Katira.
Hi Namrata, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in India in a middle-class family with very strong ethics and values. My parents never believed in fitting in, and majority of their life decisions were based on what was best for us as family. I was exposed to many different beliefs, and I saw the world very differently than most of the kids at my age. Growing up in a very different home environment gave me this desire for adventure and innate ability to be a risk taker in my life. Even though, on the surface it felt like I wanted to belong to the rest of the crowd, my inner calling was always to break free of the monotony of life and wander off to explore the world inside and outside.
After moving to the US in my late 20’s, I really tried hard to settle in and live the check list life of working 9 to 5 while juggling between busy schedules of kids and work, but that didn’t last long. I was tired of living life weekends to weekends and my soul desired to do something more, something out of my comfort zone, something truly fulfilling. I quit my job and thus began my journey within.
On my quest to search answers within, I tried quite a few different things from finance, to freelancing and at the same time trying all the different healing modalities to get connected to a deeper part of me. One of my friend was hosting a sound bath and offered me to try it out. At that time, I didn’t even know what a sound bath was and after that one session I released so much!! I got so intrigued by this result that I went on to learn sound healing for myself and eventually it led me to where I am today.
Today, I am a certified sound bath facilitator, certified breath coach and a mind body coach. I host “Empowered Sound Baths” that combine various healing modalities like breathwork, somatic work and mind body connection. While this looks like an accomplishment in itself, I am still learning and exploring more. At the moment, I am working on bringing spiritual element to wealth and prosperity.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Is it ever smooth? While I have been very fortunate to have unwavering support from my family and friends, I think the biggest challenge is and was to believe in myself. It was very uncomfortable to be in this space of not being in the mainstream and doing different things to follow my inner calling. While all my friends were settled in their life, planning for their future and saving off for their retirement I was experimenting with my life at the age of 40. I felt out of place and questioned my decision a lot. I felt lost and overwhelmed at the same time, I felt stuck not knowing where I am headed. I felt scared and uncovered a lot of self-worth wounds especially when it came to money. It took a lot of inner work and embodiment of what I share today to overcome these struggles.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a certified Sound Bath meditation facilitator, Certified Breath coach and a Mind Body Coach based in Las Vegas, Nevada. I facilitate sound baths combined with somatic movements, breath work and guided visualization. I like to call my sessions, “Empowered Sound Baths” as I share various tools that help my clients to regulate their nervous system. I empower them with different techniques to connect to their mind, body and spirit and find divinity within.
I think what sets me apart from others is my approach towards life and spirituality. I embody everything that I share. I have tried and tested all these different tools in my life. And I experiment, I am always trying something new. I am learning to embrace all of me, the parts that I don’t appreciate about myself. I show up as my authentic self. I am imperfect just like everyone else, I miss my workouts, it’s hard for me to close my eyes and meditate, I am raising two kids and often trying to figure out life just like everyone else, I am impatient, and I question a lot of my decisions.
I share all these aspects of me with my clients which helps to connect us all on the same level. Often, when people go to these healing practices it is very easy to put the healers above and beyond you, but when you break that barrier, you create a very authentic connection with them. And I strongly believe healing is mutual. I am learning to accept and love all parts of me, and I am sharing this journey with others.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something that most people don’t know that I have recently joined Insight Timer as a teacher and post guided meditations on the app. Insight Timer is a free meditation app that has tons of resources for mental health. You can check out my profile and my work here https://insighttimer.com/Nourishasoul I also have my own You Tube channel where I post guided meditations and sound bath clips. https://www.youtube.com/@Nourishasoul
It is so fulfilling to have my voice reach out to thousands of people through these different channels.
Another surprising thing that people may not know is that I have designed my own planners, and they are available on Amazon. I use time block method to plan my day and had really hard time finding simple planners with no extra frills & features to track my habits or my water or food intake. After a year of buying blank journals and using stencils to create monthly and daily pages, I decided to design my own and now it is available on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D5F8SNCC
