We were lucky to catch up with Nakeidra Robinson recently and have shared our conversation below.

Nakeidra, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?

The reason I chose Keidralee was a dedication to my late mom. Before she passed away we began bonding over makeup. Because I was just getting back into it so I would tell her mama you need to by this or mama you need to use this . So her last name was Lee and I thought that’s perfect. That way even though she’s gone I would still have a little piece of her with me in this business I started because her.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My love for makeup and beauty all started 11 years ago . My husband was deployed at the time I had 2 little girls so I need to find a hobby to keep me busy until he came home. I started off watching your tube and basically teaching myself how to do my very own makeup. After me returned and we moved . I got the confidence to try to maybe gains clients. So I would offer makeovers at that point I wasn’t comfortable and skilled enough to start charging . Then as time went on I had my very first wedding as a beginner makeup artist and let’s just say that day I said I would never wedding again lol. One thing I have learned in this journey is to not give up . There was so many times I just wanted to stop and not do it anymore because I wasn’t see results . So I would dabble back and fourth with it I would have a few clients a year . But I really didn’t bloom into Keidralee makeup until of year 2020 when I did my best friends wedding makeup and I realized how much I loved bridal makeup. And that’s been my main focus . Think that’s sets me apart and from the feed back I have gotten from my clients is being able to execute the exact look that they have in their head. The one thing I am most proud is not giving up . Being a makeup artist is so much more than makeup. Being bake to create a timeless look on a mom who hasn’t felt herself in a while getting to just sit in my chair and get pampered and then seeing their self and thinking wow that’s me. Also I am a mom 6 girls so atleast when they all get married they have Thorne own personal MUA lol

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

Word of mouth has been my best way of gaining new clients . When someone you trust tells you about a certain person or business that provided a service and usually leads to that person inquiring with you.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

That’s it’s okay to say NO , being a people pleaser somtimes you have to set boundaries. Last year I was completely burned out by the time fall wedding season was in full swing . I would take appointments after having done a bridal party all day on top of travels. So this year I have learned to say NO .
