We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Naimah Elmore. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Naimah below.

Naimah, appreciate you joining us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?

Its crazy because we started Alicia’s Coffee during the midst of the pandemic. My job laid me off so during this time I was thinking of business ideas and literally coffee came to my mind. I called my business partner Rashad Harrell(Roc Reels) and said we are investing in coffee beans. We invested in our first blend Brazilian and its been up ever since. We tried different distributors but most had the after taste in their coffee. The company we use now was perfect from pricing to blends. That was 2020 its 2022 and now we have five different blends.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?

I have always been in the music industry. I was once a artistt turned music manager. Honestly being a coffee owner never crossed my mind but I needed to do something different in life. Music had become disappointing to me and I was actually starting to become depressed managing artist. Putting my full potential in Alicia’s Coffee became my main focus in September 2021. During this journey its been great and bad days. I think the worst day I had was during a pop-up shop we had no coffee to sell only brew because we had issues with shipping for alot of owners that it delayed our products. We were down but our customers couldn’t tell we still served. Im most proud of our growth where we started and where we are now. Our inventory has grown so much from coffee to espresso machines. We recently started serving iced coffee and frappuccinos.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?

Rashad Harrell is a videographer and I met him through a mutual friend Roderick Peterson. He interview me for his show on youtube and we have been close ever since. We have worked with the same artist, his more than a business partner he is my brother. It’s rare you will find someone with the same mindset and goals as you but I am forever grateful for him.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

My character and my faith. I have always been a people person, I have always worked in hospitality so connecting with people never has been a problem. Its so funny with Alicia’s Coffee because when we started telling people we actually own our coffee they didnt believe us until the expansion kept expending lol.
