We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nahomi a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nahomi, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My mom always gave me unconditional love and support. I feel as if the knowledge and nurturing she instilled in me created a space for me to actualize my visions. Being given that kind of confidence as a kid really allows you to grow up believing you can do anything. I’m so thankful for being able to experience that and have opportunities now where I can reciprocate that kind of knowledge and love. Now that I’m busy creating all the time, she reminds me to learn how to unplug and be in the moment…practice gratitude. You know, all the things that ground you. You have to have clear energy to be able to allow new energy to flow in. It’s all a balance. I’ll be on the phone with her telling her all the things I’m working on and she’ll ask when was the last time I meditated or if I’m getting enough sleep. She’s an Earth sign and I’m an Air sign. It makes sense.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am the Creative Director at my platform, Nibiru, specializing in 3D graphics, animations, character design, AI, and a touch of AR. Currently, I am in the process of developing a beta video game. I contribute to content creation and social media campaigns for various brands and artists. I’m also a Creative Technologist at an innovation hub for kids, helping develop and teach STEAM curriculum. I actually went to college to study sociology, and I never took an art class during my education. My initial career interests were mostly academic, like astrophysics and engineering. However, after visiting NY for the first time and booking Fashion Week as a model, I was inspired to move to the city. I always loved being behind the camera as much as I loved being in front of it. I would pitch photoshoots ideas and have a bunch of presentations laid out, but people just took me more seriously as a model at that time. One day, I decided I was going to learn to design so I could start bringing my ideas to life and build my portfolio. I was also having extreme, lucid dreams during this time and I would visit all these beautiful, alternative worlds. I would wake up thinking wow I can’t draw- but imagine if I could show this to other people. This particular aspiration was what introduced me to the realm of 3D design. I consider myself multidimensional. I would say what I think sets me apart is the kind of storytelling I want to bring to my platform and the way I integrate technology with that aspect. The blueprint of my personal work is based on a calling and the Ancient Ways of Knowledge.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I think even from my experience working with kids, you understand the importance of accessible technology and educational programs. Providing accessible and affordable education and training opportunities for aspiring artists and creatives is crucial. Creating spaces that are inclusive and diverse, celebrating different backgrounds and stories. Having collaborative platforms where people can network, share ideas, and access mentorship programs can also help the development of new artistic forms. It’s important for people to have community and a safe space to express their art in all its forms.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Books have shaped my entire life. Literature like Metu Neter, The Opening of the Way, and The Mayan Factor have immensely impacted my entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy. I think it really all comes down to the true realization of our unlimited potential and being. I believe that by understanding the different systems of our energetical bodies and spiritual environment, we can be led on a path of Self-Actualization.
