Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nagla Moussa. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Nagla, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about the early days of establishing your own firm. What can you share?
Since I have a son on the Autism Spectrum, and I’ve been volunteering as a parent support group leader for many years (over 20 years), 7 years ago out of necessity, I made the decision to start an Autism Consulting firm on my own. I had many connections in the autism community in the North Texas area, and all over the state since I have spent much of my time volunteering for non profits like the Arc of Texas, Easter Seals of North Texas, doing advocacy and support for families as the President of the National Autism Association of North Texas. It was a natural transition to start a professional Autism Consulting firm. This transition was made easier because of being an established member in the autism community, knowing the issues faced by families intimately, and having the experience and connections locally and statewide. Having started the firm and advertised on social media, clients started trickling in slowly at first, but more and more as the years went by. I continue to voluntarily support families who have children with autism on social media parent groups, it’s my way of reaching families who cannot pay for services. I answer questions regarding education, I post resources for help, and I respond to questions on other issues like transition to adulthood.
Although this is time consuming, it’s always been my passion to help families with children like my child.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Nagla N. Moussa, I am the president of Moussa Autism Consulting, LLC. I started this consulting firm in 2017. Moussa Autism Consulting provides professional IEP meeting advocacy services, educational consulting services to help create an educational IEP that is geared towards progress and appropriate school services or 504 plan accommodations. Moussa autism Consulting also provides parent consults to help plan for progress, and adult transitions after students graduate high school, as well as help with necessary resources for secondary education, employment, continued learning, and planning for the future.
What sets me apart from others in my field is the personal experience I have supporting my son and many other individuals with autism over the past 30 years. Also my extensive and well rounded knowledge gained from being a volunteer for non profits like The Arc of Texas, Easter Seals of North Texas, University of North Texas, Texas Autism Task force, and previously being a governor appointed committee member for the Texas Education Agency Continuing Advisory Committee for Special Education.
I am very proud of my work ethic, my passion to help individuals with autism and their families, and the great amount of satisfaction I feel from seeing them succeed!
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy I find is to be involved in the community you serve and to interact on a regular basis with your targeted demographics. It also helps to volunteer and provide some of your services supporting people who need them but are unable to pay. Building a reputation of giving back to the community in different ways in my opinion is vital and necessary. I think giving back is a responsibility that is owed to the community.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of clients for me is being visible in the community I serve, and having referrals from existing clients. Most of my clients are referred to me by ones I already support.
