We were lucky to catch up with Nadine Ramos recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nadine, appreciate you joining us today. So, one thing many business owners consider is donating a percentage of sales or profits to an organization or cause. We’d love to hear your thoughts and the story behind how and why you chose the cause or organization you donate to.
In my company Lasio, giving back is our heartbeat. I believe that because I had to overcome many obstacles during my upbringing, I developed a greater appreciation for life. As a result of this appreciation, a devotion to giving back has become ingrained into the culture of my company. Lasio is a proud supporter of Hands to Serve, a non-profit organization whose mission is to bring clean water, education and health to orphans in Africa. This mission is near and dear to my heart because I am too considered an orphan. It is the love of my family and friends that has enabled me to push forward in my journey, along with my God who is a father to the fatherless. It brings great joy and purpose to me and those who work at Lasio when we get reports of the completed water wells, or when we hear of a child who was provided food, shelter and clothing because of our commitment to this mission. We have made a commitment to donate $25k of our sales towards the Hands to Serve mission. In support of such a vital cause, we feel beyond honored to be on the verge of achieving our goal. Give with a humble and pure heart, and your reward will be abundant
Nadine, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Nadine Ramos is an entrepreneur, innovator, manufacturer, licensed cosmetologist, and a pioneer within the keratin industry. As the Founder and CEO of Lasio Inc, Nadine Ramos has grown a professional haircare empire that includes a manufacturing facility, luxury products, services, and a luxury mobile salon service.
With a dream and the determination to fulfill her purpose, Ramos set her sight on beauty-focused entrepreneurship at the age
of twenty with no experience and no financial support.
From humble beginnings as a young Latina woman in New York City, Ramos says her intent was always to create a globally known brand. For
her, failure was not an option. She used that drive to create a keratin hair care treatment that would change lives all over the world
and create a definitive space for keratin within the beauty industry.
A self-proclaimed fashionista, Lasio was born from Ramos’ love of beauty and fashion, but also from her willingness to take risks and
step out on a limb of faith. Lasio Professional Hair Care has since become a well-known and respected keratin manufacturing
company and brand. Using her past as a catalyst to fuel her business, Ramos now uses her journey to success to inspire others.
“I want aspiring entrepreneurs to understand that you can turn nothing into something as long as you remain passionate about your
dream and stay focused beyond measure,” says Ramos. Her story of perseverance, unwavering faith, and focus is one she hopes to
share with entrepreneurs.
From the very beginning, she took risks to create something new and unheard of by many. She flew to Brazil on her family’s
borrowed dime in search of a product with a name unknown to her, which she had only seen performed once.
The success of Lasio is proof of what Nadine calls “being stubborn with your dream.” In a highly-saturated, competitive market, Lasio
Keratin Treatments and products remain one of the most consistently performing products within the keratin industry, earning over
one million dollars in just two years.
Her advice, “set, your goals on paper, breakdown how you plan to achieve them, keep your credit clean, failure can never be an
option, and focus, focus, focus.”
Through her products, words, and dream, Nadine Ramos, has inspired thousands of business owners to take charge of their success
and to be dream catchers. Through the years, Nadine’s work has been featured on NBC, FOX, 69 NEWS, The Examiner, Local Flair,
Cosmopolitan, Modern Salon Magazine, Allure, and across several blog platorms. Her products can be found from New York to
Miami, Los Angeles, and hundreds of cities across the nation as well as the Middle East, Israel, Greece, Central and South America,
and India.
Nadine’s passion is to inspire, motivate, and give people the kick in the but they need to get up and go after every dream, every
vision, and every aspiration.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
The year was 2000 when I lost my mother. It was a crucial time in my life as a young adult. My life would not be defined by becoming a statistic, so I had to decide what I would do for the rest of my life. I turned my mourning and grief over the death of my mother into a passion and vision of turning an unknown product into something that would have a name and make me a business woman. It was my resilience that enabled me to raise the funding to start Lasio, perseverance that pushed me to learn everything I know about business, and passion that keeps me going. —
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
It was the year of Covid when I decided to pivot Lasio. We had been a well-known company not only for our products but also for our NYC flagship salon. I remember when the news about the shutdown being longer than we anticipated came. I knew I had to act fast, so I tapped into my impulsive character and decided to shut down the salon and start a mobile service. We would provide Lasio keratin treatments at your home with all the proper protocols to keep everyone safe. It was an instant success! We went from servicing the NYC and Tri-state area at our salon to opening and expanding the business in 5 states. We provided jobs for stylists who were without work, we provided a luxury service that left women and men feeling good about themselves again. We increased revenue by 45% that year.
