Nadine, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.

I was at the peak of my career in corporate communications, leading a team of 100+ and earning international recognition—yet I barely saw my two-year-old son for more than 30 minutes a day. Sitting by the Bow River, exhausted and questioning everything, I asked myself, “Why am I doing this? What is all this for?”

Weeks later, my dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. Just 21 days after his diagnosis, he was gone. As he took his last breath, I felt what I can only describe as a rush of energy—like he was passing on his final life lesson to me. In that instant, I made a promise: I wouldn’t waste another moment on things that didn’t truly matter.

I would put my well-being, my family, and my life purpose first.

That promise changed everything. It became the origin story of Ascend Leadership Co.—helping powerhouse leaders like create the freedom they once thought was impossible.
