We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nadim Sammur. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nadim below.
Nadim, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
A defining moment in my career happened during the very first week of my first job after college. I remember logging in and thinking, “Is this really what I’m going to do for the next 40+ years?” That moment sparked something in me — I knew I wanted more, and I had to do something different.
About a year later, I took a risky bet on myself and left that job. I launched my own culinary business, doing cooking demonstrations for corporate clients, catering events, working as a food truck chef, authoring three cookbooks, creating social media content, and even raising funds to help feed people in my community. That chapter taught me how to lead, create, and serve in a way that was meaningful and fulfilling.
Eventually, I transitioned into a career in finance — a path I realized I wanted to pursue during my time away from corporate America. That risk — stepping away from the “safe” route — gave me clarity, experience, and purpose that I carry with me in every role I take on today.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned — and the one I want to leave you with — is this: If taking a risk on yourself won’t leave you homeless or hungry, then do it. Bet on yourself. It’s worth it.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m passionate about empowering individuals, families, and communities through holistic health and wellness. My journey into this work has been anything but linear — blending experiences in finance, education, culinary arts, and community engagement to create a truly holistic offering. I started focusing specifically on cooking but quickly realized that there was a huge gap; people didn’t just need recipes they needed actual education and empowerment to lead holistically healthier lives. That realization expanded into a mission.
Today, I provide financial literacy education, customized education programs, cooking demos, public speaking, and creative works — including books and digital content that feed both the body and the mind. Whether I’m teaching middle school students about money management or leading plant-based cooking demos that highlight the African diaspora, everything I create is rooted in the goal of making complex topics accessible, culturally relevant, and empowering.
I solve problems by meeting people where they are. Clients often come to me curious — mainly on how to improve their health by healthy eating — but not knowing where to start. Through customized, practical, and culturally conscious education and experiences, I help demystify these areas and provide clear, actionable paths forward.
What sets me apart is my ability to connect seemingly different disciplines — finance, wellness, culture, education — into a unified, authentic experience. I don’t just deliver information; I deliver transformation through storytelling, community, and real-world examples that resonate.
I’m most proud of the impact I’ve been able to create across different spaces: seeing students’ eyes light up when they grasp a financial concept for the first time; hearing from clients who’ve implemented strategies/recipes we discussed; watching event attendees not only enjoy a meal, but leave with new inspiration for their health journey.
What I want potential clients, followers, and fans to know is simple: my work is about you. It’s about helping you, your family, and your community unlock the knowledge, habits, and inspiration you need to thrive — financially, physically, and mentally. Whether through a workshop, a speaking engagement, a book, or a cooking demo, I bring a deep commitment to cultural relevance, empowerment, and lasting impact.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Absolutely! Three books that have had a major impact on my entrepreneurial thinking are Start With Why by Simon Sinek, Business Secrets from the Bible by Rabbi Daniel Lapin, and Profit First by Mike Michalowicz.
Start With Why helped me redefine my sense of purpose and build a business rooted in meaning, not just products. Business Secrets from the Bible opened my eyes to the spiritual principles behind long-term success and ethical leadership. And Profit First completely shifted the way I manage my business finances — teaching me to prioritize profitability from the start, so I could build something sustainable and enjoy the journey along the way.
Each of these books contributed a key piece to how I think, operate, and grow today.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
If I had to pick one moment, it would be losing both of my parents as a teenager. As an only child, that loss was absolutely devastating. It forced me to grow up quickly and find strength within myself that I didn’t even know existed.
Despite the pain, I was determined not to let it define me. I went on to graduate from a top-tier university as an engineer, start a business, become an author, build a successful career, maintain a healthy body and mind, and create a loving life with my wife. I believe all of this is a true testament to my resilience.
Today, when I look back at that time, I smile. If I had known then what I know now — about how beautiful life could still become — I would go through it all over again.
To anyone facing their own obstacles, I want to leave you with two reminders that helped me:
• “The bigger the obstacle, the bigger the blessing.”
• “In the end, everything will be okay. If it’s not okay now, then it’s not the end yet.”
