Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nadia Lynn. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Nadia , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
As a person who tends to overthink a lot journaling was the best outlet I had. Lead By Motivation started off by being an ordinary journal where I would just write all my thoughts. Back then it was the place where I could unplug from reality and escape what I was going through at the time. I started posting poems from my journal on my personal social media platforms when I noticed that they’re were people who could also relate to what I was going through. A couple of days later I told my sister about it, and she recommend that I could start a brand new social media platform simply for me to encourage others. At that time I was like “No, thanks..nobody’s going to follow it”, but after thinking about it I eventually changed my mind. When we got to brainstorming, we came up with the name “Lead By Motivation”. Lead By Motivation stands for being a leader In your community by standing up for mental health awareness & motivating others to be their best selves.
Nadia , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I always had the passion to help others any way I possibly could. When I realized I was born with the gift of public speaking I knew this was my purpose. The 1st time I spoked in front of a large crowd of people I was extremely nervous. I spent countless days writing and rehearsing my speech for the Junior League of Cobb Marietta conference meeting. I was 18 years old with a 2 year old son preparing myself to graduate high school when I fell in love with public speaking. I mostly fell in love with the adrenaline I get before getting on any stage. Lead By Motivation provides the community a safe place to truly be themselves and be openly honest about their flaws. I know how it feels when some days seems like things get too hard to handle. Imagine yourself having a bad day, feeling lonely, going through depression, or even needing a listening ear Lead By Motivation will provide you with a safe place where you’ll be able to get connected, learn. and grow. You will also be able to attend LBM events where you can come out and enjoy great food and fun activities made for your whole family.
Our annual events are the most popular such as our 60 Days Locked IN & the Peace At The Park. The 60 Days Locked IN is hosted in February to get people locked into their goals and purposes. Each week we discuss different key themes/topics that we learn to help us grow in every aspect in our lives. In March I host the Peace At The Park event for Mental Health Awareness Month. This event is a huge picnic to get families together in a park setting to enjoy some time outside in a beautiful scenery.
What makes Lead By Motivation different from other motivational medias would be that I am very transparent with my supporters at all times. I make sure that I’m honest about my flaws and experiences. My supporters know that life gets hard some days for everyone at some point. I let my followers & supporters know when I’m going through a difficult time, and they send me words of encouragement. I refer to my supporters as my “LBM Family”, because my mission is to build and strengthen our communities. I personally thank every last one of my followers, and a bigger thanks to the ones who followed me since high school that still show support! See that’s love!
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
I recently read a book called “The Purpose-Driven Life” by Rick Warren. I absolutely love the book, and highly recommend it to anyone struggles depression, searching for their purpose, and needs encouragement. In the process of reading the book it had taught me so much about myself, and how I should appreciate the life God has chosen just for me. I also learned how to strengthen the relationship with my loved ones, and the people around me. The book opened my eyes on how I could use the gifts God blessed me with to bless others.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to learn and still honestly learning would be that I have to get out my comfort zone & take more risks. I eventually realized that I was holding myself back from not taking any. I had become too comfortable, and I knew I wanted more & absolutely wanted to be more. Being so caught up on other people opinions of me stopped me from so many opportunities. As I reflect on how much I’ve grown, I’m very proud of the women I’m becoming. The best advice I give I would give someone would be that no matter what goes on in your life stay true to yourself. It doesn’t matter where you’ve been, but it does matter where you’re going. Everyone has a story to tell, we just need that ONE person to listen.
