We recently connected with Nadia Lando and have shared our conversation below.
Nadia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I first knew that I wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path since around the age of 9 years old. As a child, I played piano and violin. My grandfather was a musician who played saxophone and trumpet, and I would go down to his studio and play the drums and piano, and he gave me my first violin, which I used when I was in the orchestra. I started writing my first song during my freshman year of high school. I actually kept the lyrics over the years and I recently finished writing that song. I am looking forward to recording and releasing it in the near future.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a singer and songwriter based out of Los Angeles, CA. My style of music varies, I try not to put my music in a box. Although if I’d have to categorize my music I would say it consists of pop mixed with a bit of rock, electronic, latin, and hip-hop. My latest single called “Besos Mi Amor” is set to drop November 10th. “Besos Mi Amor” is in English and Spanish representing many of us Latinos in the U.S. and globally who often speak Spanglish. I have a few upcoming projects where I’m writing and recording songs for feature films. I am proud of my body of work to date, and I try to tell a story through many of my songs, as I did with the song “Cool Kid.” I wrote “Cool Kid” for people who feel like they never fit in, for people to feel good about embracing their uniqueness, knowing that their power stems from being themselves, and to know and feel that everything will work out for the best. I have had so many people let me know how much they can relate to that song and they tell me that they constantly have “Cool Kid” on repeat, and that means the world to me.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In this world it is important to find your base of resilience, as life can feel like it is going well and then you hit bumps and sometimes full on road blocks. It is important for people to always tap into their resiliency and know how to pivot. With my degree in Psychology I try to integrate my knowledge and lessons learned through my music. Through my music I try to encompass the importance of being resilient, highlighting it and lifting people up through songs such as “Cool Kid.” The ability to be resilient can help you avoid depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I love the ability and process of continuing to be creative in my music journey. I enjoy co-producing my songs and having that creative input. I love songwriting and sharing my messages with the world. I recently have gotten the chance to collaborate with Los Angeles boutiques to sell clothing/merchandise through my official website nadialando.com where a percentage of proceeds goes to domestic and civil violence victims. Through this collaboration I hope we are able to help various victims.
