We recently connected with Nadia Ali and have shared our conversation below.
Nadia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.
I had a client who was passionate about establishing a professional development program for managers in their organization. We brainstormed and thought about ways we can garner buy-in from leadership and I supported them in developing a train-the-trainer model to help make this an ongoing program for them. In addition to launching this program, we developed a structure that would make this learning a sustainable part of their leadership development for managers. 3 years later and it is still going strong and evolving into other types of learning that supports the growth and psychological safety of others.
Nadia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I would describe myself as a consultant, facilitator, storyteller, and team builder. I work with organizations at the intersection of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) and systems innovation, healthcare, leadership development, and organizational culture. My goal is to help bring JEDI into their operating systems, culture, and overall fabric of the organization. I use a trauma-informed lens, therapeutic communication techniques, and adult learning principles. I draw from my lived experience and professional experience by blending a deep understanding of racial equity, various leadership frameworks, and workplace dynamics.
My commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion inspired me to launch Idea Labs. The word Idea in Idea Labs is an acronym for Inclusivity, Diversity and Equity in Action and my company strives to advance these core values in the workplace through training, leadership coaching and organizational strategy. Through Idea Labs we foster a culture of innovation, collaboration and belonging in partnership with non-profit organizations, government institutions and small businesses.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Referrals have proven to be the most effective source of new clients for my business, consistently outperforming other marketing channels. This success can be attributed to the inherent trust and credibility embedded in referrals. When satisfied clients refer their friends, family, or colleagues to a business, they are essentially vouching for its quality and reliability, making potential clients more inclined to engage with that business.
Additionally, referrals often lead to higher conversion rates and stronger client relationships, as the pre-existing trust between the referrer and the new client lays a solid foundation for future interactions. Moreover, referrals tend to result in a higher lifetime value of clients, as they are more likely to become repeat customers and advocates for the business themselves. As such, nurturing and leveraging referrals can be a powerful strategy for sustained business growth and success.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Keeping in touch with clients and fostering brand loyalty through relationship-building is crucial for businesses seeking sustained success. Regular communication, personalized interactions, and meaningful engagement activities all play key roles in nurturing these relationships. Whether it’s through personalized emails, phone calls, social media interactions, or face-to-face meetings, we demonstrate our commitment to clients by staying connected and attentive to their needs.
By actively listening to client feedback, addressing concerns promptly, and going the extra mile to exceed expectations, we cultivate trust and loyalty over time. Ultimately, prioritizing relationship-building efforts fosters a sense of belonging and connection, turning satisfied clients into partners who are more likely to recommend Idea Labs to others and continue their support for the long term.
