We were lucky to catch up with Naama Levit recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Naama thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you recount a story of an unexpected problem you’ve faced along the way?
My process is deeply rooted in problem-solving, as is common in many art and design practices. The challenges I create for myself often revolve around understanding and reinterpreting materials—pushing their perceived limits to achieve what seems impossible. I explore how materials can connect, transform, and behave beyond their assumed characteristics, using a method of systematic exploration and analysis. By deconstructing them conceptually and physically, I uncover new meanings they carry as well as new ways of working.
For example, one of my works is a chainlinks carved out of limestone, a material not typically associated with interlocking structures. The challenge was not only shaping the form but reimagining how stone could interlock, ultimately leading to a solution that reshaped my understanding of its potential.
Beyond material exploration, I am also driven by the desire to capture fleeting moments and preserve them through objects. While working on another project, I wanted to recreate a material memory from my homeland—Jerusalem, near the Judean Desert. I was drawn to the way sand and dust lingered on clothing, forming ephemeral traces of the landscape. After extensive experimentation, I succeeded in transforming sand into thread, turning an intangible, transient element into something wearable and enduring. These problem-solving processes, whether material-based or conceptual, define my approach to making.

Naama, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m an interdisciplinary jeweler and artist with a background in Jewelry and Object Design. My work blends traditional techniques with experimental approaches—incorporating silversmithing, craft, and performance—to explore the connections between people, materials, landscape, and memory. I’m fascinated by how the human experience is reflected in daily life and material culture, and I use storytelling to give shape to these layered experiences and ideas.
What sets my practice apart is my focus on capturing specific, meaningful moments and transforming everyday elements into profound reflections. I aim to challenge how we perceive the familiar, revealing its elusive, uncanny qualities—the subtle details we often overlook that can evoke wonder or unease. By highlighting the extraordinary within the ordinary, my work invites deeper reflection, encouraging a renewed way of seeing and engaging with the world. Through poetic references to play and the sublime, I seek to spark curiosity and open new perspectives on our surroundings.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
I draw significant inspiration and philosophical insights from biological and chemical processes, which deeply influence my perspective and creative approach. A few years ago I came across a quote by the 17th-century French chemist Antoine Lavoisier: “Nothing is lost, nothing is created, everything is transformed.” It immediately resonated with me, both in my creative practice and in how I experience life.
This idea—that everything is in constant movement, never fixed as one thing—shapes my approach to making and to being present in the world. It reminds me that transformation is always occurring, and in accepting that, I can let go of preconceived expectations of how things should be. Instead, I can appreciate objects, materials, and even moments for their subtle shifts, seeing them anew each time. It also allows me to embrace change within myself, to continuously evolve and find new ways of understanding and creating.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My creative drive is fueled by curiosity—the urge to understand why things are the way they are and to imagine what else they could become. I strive to create space for wonder, change, and questioning; to use art as a way to frame moments, emotions, and ideas beyond words; and to explore the power of making and sharing in fostering connection and sparking conversation.
Art has a profound effect on the human soul—it can awaken forgotten memories, introduce new ways of thinking, or evoke a sense of familiarity and belonging. These moments of recognition and discovery offer comfort, connection, and compassion, all essential to the human experience.
Seeing life through a creative lens softens its rigidity, adding depth and opening space for play, reflection, and transformation. Art speaks in a language beyond words—both deeply personal and universally resonant—breathing life into the everyday and inviting us to see, feel, and engage with the world in new ways.
