We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mysti Smith. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mysti below.
Mysti, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
“Want Love”?… Will by far be the best project I have ever been involved in. Want Love?.. is a very dramatic filled relationship journey for those who struggle with setting boundaries in a loving way. For me in particular, this project is pretty incredible because it is one that I have co-written with my husband, Brad.
Relationships are sometimes confusing to people whether it be work or professional or loving-like marriage. Often times people misrepresent themselves at the beginning of a ‘relationship’ and when the new and shiny wears off, there’s not much left to like of the person you are with any longer. “Want Love?”… will follow several relationships and scenarios where we will see those willing to fight for what they want or letting go of a relationship that is no longer healthy.
We will learn lessons of healthy and unhealthy behavior as well as setting boundaries in a very loving way to encourage stronger relationships in the future. Guided by the author and relationship coach-Jack Ito, we look forward to lending a voice and encouragement to help those stay in a healthy loving relationship or for those taking the steps to repair one. Welcome to a journey through a path that will shed light in all of your relationships.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I started in the entertainment industry over two decades ago. I was in a duo for artists, singers and songwriters with my sister. I lived in Nashville-Music City as known to most in the world of country music. The industry was harsh, ruthless, exciting and amazing but all at different stages. Towards the end of my career and stay in Nashville, I decided I was looking for something more than what people called ‘Stardom’. In truth, I just wanted to do things my way and just simply be me.
In a world full of people who wanted you to constantly try and fit in-I wanted to stand out. I wasn’t interested in acting a certain way, or letting publicists and managers tell me who I could date or be seen with in public or what I should and shouldn’t wear and how to ‘put on the dog’ when timing called for it. That just wasn’t me. That is NEVER gonna be me!
After finishing a degree in Broadcast Communications and Film, I decided I would do what I wanted to do. At that point that is when I formed and opened CORE Entertainment Group, Inc. with my now husband, Brad. Brad and I have worked on many projects together from music to soundtracks to film and even acting in a plot together. We have a GREAT relationship and wonderful marriage and we enjoy doing what we love. Best thing of all-we enjoy doing it together. We are being represented at Cannes Film Festival this year for some of our past works. I encourage you to check out our repertoire at www.coreentertainmentgroup.com.
IF I could pass on any words of advice or encouragement; I would say JUST BE YOU! LIVE DELIBERATLEY and do it your way. BE your most authentic self and continue to put yourself out there. Stay creative and always be open to trying new sounds or new genres of films and never give up!
Success can only be measured by your standards! Live by your rules and creative from your own point of view.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Lessons I had to unlearn-I would have to say that one of the hardest lessons to ‘unlearn’ was not believing that people will do what they say they will do. We were told everyday either by way of other artists, management, producers, etc, that they all had our best interests at heart. Over the years I watched how all of that became a daily way of talk for most. I finally wised up and realized that the only person who had my best interests at heart was in fact, ME!
Only you can control your behaviors and live your best life. When others get involved and it feels like someone else is controlling your life on the daily-it is time to take a step back and put yourself back in the drivers seat.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The goal or mission that Brad and I have that drives our journey is one that ends when we know we have helped people. I would love the opportunity to create content that moves people and allows them to start living their best life! IF we can help one person, one family, one marriage or relationship through Want Love?… that would be AMAZING! Helping people become better and living their best lives.. that would mean everything to us. Using our platform and continuing to create relevant content inspires us to reach goals not only through our film life but through relationships as well. We hop to see you all on this journey and hope you find your inspiration to uncover your full potential!
