Myron, appreciate you joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I’ve gained a lot of knowledge and skills from watching YouTube videos and shadowing others. However, I realize that I could have learned even more if I had truly dedicated more time to this craft. Unfortunately, there were a lot of distractions in my life that prevented me from fully committing myself. The biggest obstacle I faced was myself. I struggled with self-doubt and made a lot of mistakesto take constant breaks. But I’mush past these obstacles and continue learning and growing. that caused me determined to p
Myron, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve been into photography for about 10 years now. Back in college, I was studying something completely different, but my best friend Mark was always carrying his camera around. Eventually, I decided to get my own camera and learn how to use it. I started assisting Mark on shoots and that’s when I fell in love with photography.
To build my social presence, I messaged people with more followers than me. After a couple of years, I’m now shooting fashion, portraits, artist covers, and editorial overall. As a creative director, I build out the idea, create briefs, and produce the shoot from casting, location, and crew. I’m living my dream, truly.
I just want to create impactful visuals that inspire more people. When people see my shoots, I want them to want to do it better. It keeps me on my toes, so I’m never stagnant.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Networking is crucial in any business. No matter how skilled you are, if you don’t have a strong network, it can be challenging to succeed.
The people you meet along the way can make a significant difference in your business. Therefore, it’s essential to be friendly, make friends, and be genuine.
When you put yourself out there, you increase the chances of meeting people who can help you grow your business. People prefer to work with individuals they like and trust, and often, they prefer to work with their friends. So, don’t hesitate to make connections and build relationships with others in your industry.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I’ve had my fair share of mishaps in photography. I’ve broken cameras, lost lenses, and even lost entire cameras. But despite all of that, I never gave up. I knew that this was what I wanted to do, and I was determined to find a way around the obstacles. Even when it meant borrowing or renting cameras, or spending thousands of dollars on new equipment, I always bet on myself and my passion for photography.
