We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Myra Lynne. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Myra below.
Hi Myra, thanks for joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
Proving joy is the best part of creative living

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I graduated with an art minor in 2011 but spent 10 years in corporate America working my way up to Marketing Manager. Each year, I became more convinced I was not living my purpose. To de-stress from my demanding job I started painting again. Soon, I was consumed by my art and couldn’t wait to get home to paint. During the pandemic I was given a glimpse into what being a full time artist would be like and I began pursing it whole heatedly.
I provide colorful and lighthearted work that radiates joy. I use bright colors in both my figurative and abstract work. Most of my clients get a pet portrait from me because I love capturing the personality of their animals. This is by far my favorite service I provide.
I am most proud of proving joy to my clients. I have some original artwork on my walls from others and they bring me joy EVERY day & I hope with all my heart that my clients feel that way about my work.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The number one thing I enjoy as a small business owner is the freedom. I have always been a night owl, even as a kid. It is amazing to be able to paint from 8pm to 2 most nights of the week.
As an artist, it is interacting with clients & having my work impact their daily lives. There are not many services that provide something that people will use everyday for years & to me that is amazing.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I think there needs to be more funds and spread out funds to people in the arts. It is very challenging for artists to get grants, RFP’s, and other sources of income. I think art is needed. It helps people think differently, it soothes, and it helps people discover themselves.
I do think step 1 is to not cut funding to the arts in school so that kids keep their creativity. (Creativity helps with all jobs.) I think step 2 is to have more funds to the arts and artists.
