We recently connected with Mylira Green and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Mylira thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
My defining career moment actually happened before my professional journey officially began. As a senior in college, I was invited to share a few words of wisdom with incoming freshmen. I thought I’d simply speak briefly and take my seat. To my surprise, when I arrived, I discovered my name listed as the keynote speaker. With just 15 minutes to prepare, I wrote a speech that ended with a standing ovation. That was the moment I realized my voice was meant to heal others.
Although I haven’t yet reached my dream of being a full-time professional speaker, this experience shaped the trajectory of my career. It showed me the power of words and presence, and that realization has carried into every role I’ve held. As a social worker, I’ve used my voice to advocate for others and help them feel seen. As a psychotherapist specializing in trauma, I’ve guided clients toward healing. Through workshops, seminars, and the books I’ve written, I’ve sought to empower people to embrace freedom, resilience, and transformation.
The wisdom I carry from that moment is that sometimes our calling reveals itself when we least expect it. What feels like a surprise or challenge can actually be divine preparation. That day taught me to trust my voice, lean into the unexpected, and recognize that my journey is not just about professional titles—it’s about the impact I make through connection and healing.

Mylira, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For those who may not know me, my name is Mylira Green. I often say I didn’t just “get into” my industry—I was called into it. My own lived experiences, combined with my passion for helping others, led me down the path of social work and psychotherapy. Over the years, I’ve evolved into more than a clinician: I am also a transformative coach, Reiki Master, speaker, and author.
My work centers on healing trauma, building resilience, and helping individuals and organizations thrive. I provide psychotherapy with a focus on trauma, as well as workshops and seminars that equip people with practical tools for emotional and spiritual wellness. Additionally, I offer books that inspire freedom and self-discovery, and coaching that helps leaders align their values with their practices. My brand is about creating spaces where people can be authentic, valued, and equipped to move forward.
What sets me apart is that I integrate both clinical expertise and holistic practices. I believe God has given us many tools for healing, and I embrace modalities like meditation, Reiki, and even sound healing alongside evidence-based therapies. This allows me to meet clients where they are and offer healing that touches the mind, body, and spirit.
I’m most proud of the lives I’ve seen transformed through this work—whether it’s a client learning to live beyond their trauma, a student stepping into their confidence, or a leader creating a healthier workplace. I want people to know that my work isn’t about titles or credentials; it’s about transformation. My mission is to remind others of their worth, help them rewrite their stories, and walk alongside them as they step into freedom.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Other than training and knowledge, I believe authenticity is the most helpful factor in succeeding in my field. Early in my career, I thought my degrees, certifications, and technical skills would be what set me apart. And while those credentials opened doors, what truly created transformation for my clients was my ability to show up as my authentic self—present, compassionate, and willing to walk alongside them without judgment.
I’ve learned that people don’t just want information; they want connection. They want to know that the person guiding them understands the weight of what they’re carrying and can hold space for both their pain and their potential. That comes from empathy, humility, and doing my own inner work.
Even as a therapist, I’ve had to sit in my own counseling sessions, confront my trauma, and allow myself to heal in order to be a clearer vessel for others. I can’t take people to places I haven’t been willing to go myself. My own journey of self-awareness and spiritual alignment has kept me grounded and resilient, even when the work gets heavy.
So, what truly sustains me—and what I believe helps anyone succeed in this field—is combining knowledge with authenticity, empathy, and a willingness to keep growing personally. The more I align who I am with what I do, the greater my impact becomes.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
One book that has significantly impacted my entrepreneurial thinking is *Three Feet from Gold* by Sharon Lechter and Greg S. Reid. The message of perseverance has been a lifeline for me. There have been times in my journey when I felt like I hadn’t “made it” yet in the way I envisioned, even though I know I’ve made a real impact on the lives I’ve touched.
As someone who dreams of being a full-time professional speaker, it can feel discouraging when the vision seems bigger than my current reality. But this book reminded me that many people give up just before their breakthrough, not realizing how close they are. That perspective shifted everything for me.
Now, instead of measuring success only by major milestones, I celebrate the impact I make in each room I speak in, every client I guide, and every life transformed by my words. *Three Feet from Gold* gave me renewed confidence that my voice is needed, and that if I keep moving forward with consistency and resilience, the doors will continue to open.
This book keeps me anchored in the belief that I am right there—on the edge of something greater.
